no that is not possible right now.
no, there are no solid plans for such a feature.
So crossplay, this is something that I've seen a lot in many games around. I just wanted to comment on it because it is something of a hot subject because as technology has progressed...people play on different platforms and it would be nice if people could just "hookup" on any platform and play their hearts out :)
Sadly crossplay isn't just at a programming level. It is on many programming levels as well as cooperation with the other companies that you're working with to make it work e.g. Microsoft Game Studios, Sony, Nintendo, and whoever else you are trying to get crossplay working with. Would be pretty neat to just have everyone in harmony but it doesn't work that way either.
Crossplay requires a lot of "handshaking" between the people involved and they have the done in their respective programming language and with all that..there is more overhead costs and more fees for patching which actually would raise the price of the game that you would have to pay for. So crossplay is not an easy process. If it does have crossplay though...that's great but I understand any developers choice to not have it because of all the headaches that can happen.
Another thing is contracts to use "XYZ" online provider. Can't break those types of things if they have them.
Dunno about the PS4 version, but probably not.
I know I'm a year late in commenting and you may already know, but Nucleuscoop allows each person to play on their own screens. My girlfriend and I do this on PK and Grim Dawn.
