Has anyone managed to find Sugar Cube? I've looked up and down the entire fort, left and came back, and refreshed the world and still can't find him (On console btw. Own it on pc, but none of my friends do) Spent over 2hrs looking for this lost dog (Sugarcube is a dog) with 2 people looking. any info would be great

Playing on Switch but have to go to the ends of the internet to even progress past the hard gating with obscure quests in the game. It really makes me wonder how can they have a really nice feature rich voxel engine and shaders that perform well on modest hardware like Switch but be so amateurish in designing the actual game.

"Hard gating" is absolutely not a phrase you can use when you're talking about a side quest. See, hard gating means that you can not progress at all in the game without making it past whatever the "gate" is. A side quest is the opposite -- you can ignore it completely and still finish the game, defeat the final boss, and so on. It would be really impressive to hard gate with an obscure quest in a well-known game, and it remains impossible to do so with optional tasks. If you had walked away, you would have missed a few other side quests, none of which would have kept you from the boss or the ending.

The info about where to find the dog? It's on the wiki if you need it. I don't know why you think that (or an official game forum) qualifies as "the ends of the internet".

This was made back when the update first came out so the info wasn't on the wiki at the time. So at the time, this was the end of the internet and probably the only post about this specific quest.
Otherwise, Portal Knights only Hard gate is seasonal items as theyre only obtainable during the event. The base game is just locked behind some light grinding. you can literally pick up the game and beat it in a day or two before you even hit level 26 solo.
