How do you get better weapons for a mage?

I tried googling this but nothing comes up. I built an altar and anvil The anvil shows I can make new weapons for a warrior. How do I make new ones for a mage?

It's the altar, but they unlock as you progress the altar level, which demands resources that may not be available for you yet, depending on what islands you unlocked.

Most of the weapons unlock as you progress, as Star Cake says. But some you get as rare drop recipes from the bosses, so you may have to fight them numerous times to get what you want.

The website says they should be unlocked with Altar 1? I don't see any copper weapons when using the altar

I fixed it. I picked the altar up and put it back down. Now the weapons are showing up, that's odd

just match enemy weakness to your staff/wand/scythe. You will do much more damage that way even if the staff is lower level
