Is there an actual need to build a base?
I'm playing PK on ps4 with my GF and although we rly enjoy playing this game (coop games are rare!!) We kind of asked eachotter: why not put the few chests we have on a piece of grasland? I can also put my workbench down there on the same field..
It's not like there is any form of incoming attacks or anything.
The only reason to make any kind of house big or small is becouse u can? Not becouse u Have to?
I'm not here to whine but just to hear someone say that we are right in our thinking that there is absolutely no need to even build 4 poles and a tin plate as a roof.

Thnx guys!

No. But if you dont build a castle then when you reach lvl 30 and you reach the last island then you have nothing left to do.
Hope it helps.
bye

That's actually a good answer. So we'l play for a few more days to get to lvl 30 and then mark this game as "finished"
Since u can only place 1 block at a time i invested 3 hours yesterday to only make the flooring of my "soon to build castle" but since there is totally 0 need to even build a house i'l just finish the campaign with my chests and workbenches placec in the sun

Thnx

I think you are missing the point of playing this game, which is CRAFT/BUILD.Plus insane farming for end game drops. This in not just play a cool story lil adventure game

There is furniture that disables spawn of enemies on area around it :D
You can build random chests on surface of the most dangerous islands by disabling spawn of enemies :V No need for any castle/warehouse

Actually craft/build isn't the point of playing this game ;d
It's just part of the point and can be ignored just like you did with the other part of the point.

You are correct. And I've done the same as you.

First character I started a huge project and ran out of materials, continued exploring but never really finished that one. After realizing I needed more chests I had to redo the foundation as well and just skipped it in the end.

Second character I just placed a ward block and made a palisade in a square around the teleporter with all my chests and work stations.

As mentioned, there is no reason to do it. Zombie games have you beeing attacked. Terraria also have dangerous nights, and invasions. Starbound has this problem as well, but there at least you have a ship where you need to return to before going to a different planet so it ends up being a natural hub either way.

What i meant to say was that the game is not over when you reach lvl max or finish the story and marked it FINISHED.Only if you tried the game and you are not a fan of building stuff.I have a house,a second bigger house, huge walls around it like on castles, and even started a castle bigger than fort finch one.I mean ,if you don t like building stuff and you want rpg ,go pla a rpg game.just saying.
4EverGaming999 23 Thg03, 2018 @ 3:47pm
Indeed a house /base during story and progresive worlds jumping unocking is NOT necesarry. But i n these kind of games, most people start with ''Omg i can't wait to build ma base, make a fort, and so on.
4EverGaming999 23 Thg03, 2018 @ 3:50pm
I too had nice little altar with chests around portal, but only until i could craft and move portal in my base

don't forget that portal knight has elements of RPG
4EverGaming999 24 Thg03, 2018 @ 1:13am
I know i know, but after lvl and story,if you farmed along hard enough, there's no need to fight the monsters and maps travel that much anymore, aside the hardbosses.Offc the fight is fun once in a while ,maybe try new weapon drop and stuff, but not thaaat amazing to fight thaat much.Sry if i am not very clear,i love the game but the fight is not so amazing for me because i am a DmC ,darksiders,Castlevania, witcher, skyrim, dark souls, nioh, lord of the fallen and so on type player.I try 'little fun games with chibi chars' and others cuz very many are fun and so ,but Portal Knights i got mainly because omg new and proper graphics Minecraft.I saw around that quite few people want more action or more players, like 7 coop and such, but the game is not mmo .RPG yes but honestly is is just craft game with cool little story and with babble system so we have more fun not only dull farm resources and farm.Actually i dunnot knwo why many people who let's say whine ,why they dunnot go and get to play ark survival.Where you do have to fight and run like crazy and so onwhy?Because it does not have the cubes aka minecraft type style of building houses and so on. I think we can safely then say that "Thaat" is why they are here and not the rpg so much. Have a nice weekend guys and sorrry for offtopics.

Flater ''build 4 poles and a tin plate as a roof''. LOl we in coop 4 players,we used DIrt Huts along the way until we decided to build base in home map fort finch,We were all laughing how stupid we looked all 4 in sit down pose around a torch,at night,in middle of forest.in small dirt cube ,hahahaha. We went quite a few worlds until we decided about forth finch because it has cool castle in middle, hills all around, huge open spots (we build lakes there) and offc all those unmovable NPCs with shops. We spred out ,one build home on hill and rooms In the hill , one went all bunker style far as hell in direction oposite to us,and me and my brother we tooked one of those cool wood houses with a tower very near.We build second house attacched to first one buti higher and bigger, same from wood. Then small farm and now finally we made it rock fort style with castle walls,3 cubes height and 3 wide, fully functional on top and inside of them. Now we started huge castle with water channels and it's own walls ofc,and after, from that tower,we started a kingdom wall to go all around what we build.I have like 136 gameplay hrs and my brother like 40 or so.Bought game last week after finding it on mobile. For the moment, this is my main game whenever i am not at work or have stuff to do around house or whatever.

Marking game as "finished" is as common as your idea of building :D
There are people like this and like this.

Portal knight isn't only building and isn't only RPG, because of this it will bring both types of people, just like in this thread.

Also actually the fact that ARK is unbalanced (you are forced to mod) + the fact that most people play on wooden PC stops them from this game.
4EverGaming999 24 Thg03, 2018 @ 1:34am
Yeah i know, but i never was the type to play a game just to finish story and uninstall. And Yes you are right, making friends is way cooler than let's say "real battle games "where all become jerks and always fight and stuff. ANd yes about ark, indeed needs strong pc.but the graphics and animals do not dissapoint at all.Aside the fact that i made fire and kept it in my hay with wood made hut ,on the hay and wood base, without going in flames like a rocket was kinda weird. But when i encountered one of those titan boas, huge as a godam tree,i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ my pants at first seeing it.I watch usually gameplay trailers like all people, before getting a game, but not too much to spoiler myself. Also there the always loose your stuff dough realistic true,it is annoying as hell cuz most times enemies are too strong to go get your bag, plus multiple deaths make stuff dissapear for good and even the span to bed when you dye crazy far,has limits of 3 usages or so,then you need new base build, verry annoying.Quite a gamebreaker for me
Oh and also yes youa re right about blending types and bringing people together and offc various ideas and points of view.In another discussion ,there is a player dissapointed because he want to line build like in lego worlds,to finish builds in 25 mins vs block by block. You guys know that game,i presume.Sooo awesome the sandbox, but progressiona dn stuffs are annoying as hell now vs early acces. But when you see that Nexo Knights castle and chars,Daaaaam.I wish they made lego game Only with nexo knights,i understand they have cartoons with story offc and tons of chas enemies and castles and machines and stuff.

I do feel we should make new discussion # Wariat117 (btw, dam you are active in discussions. You and that other guy, can't recall name now,he uses some starcraft char or helm pic as profile pic.Dunnow let my name fool you,i am very social and friendly, but in skyrym dark souls and so,i like dark knight type armors, and hellish, that's where my name comes from

I think I know where you are coming from.

I originally picked up the game for its roleplaying aspect. Graphics looked cute and on paper it sounded like a solid design. Only when playing did I discover that fights and classes were rather boring (to me) and I lost motivation quickly to gain levels and "upgrade" my character.

However the game forced me to start crafting. Something I didnt have any interest in at the beginning and wasnt even thinking about. It was a necessity at first to aquire better weapons/armor.

And thats when it all changed for me.

Farming blocks with a GOAL in mind and making something of your own from it has changed my perspective on the whole thing. I had no idea it would be that much fun. While a "base" is something every player is doing I m sure there are other things

- dedicated farming plots to ensure supply of regrowable resources
- a summer house on the beach
- watch tower at the border of an isle
- personal dungeon
- love nest to invite your wife/girlfriend to

Theres no reason to make it look nice or impressive so suddenly you are more busy thinking about plans and how to aquire blocks you need rather then reaching level cap or the next zone. In fact going to a new zone has been a HUGE time waster for me as you reach new locations which make you think "whoaaaa.....this looks so much better a place for my base" forcing you to restart or tear down your old base to build it again there or you come across a new type of block you didnt have access to before making you think "I need to build my whole floor with this block" so really....remodeling and refurninshing has been a large part of my gametime.

So no, there is no reason to build a base as in other games. But the option and freedom to be creative is addicting to me. Certainly not everybodies cup of tea. I also like clicker games so it comes down to the individual player I guess
