Missing Strange Totem Piece

My friend is missing his Strange Totem Piece from Starspires. He claimed it where meteors had to be turned in on some kind of three towers. He had it but has now lost it before opening the portal requiring the key. He had checked the trader selling the labaratory glass bottles etc, but she wont sell the replica of the Strange Totem Piece. Is something been done wrong? He said it looks like a purple/pink shard crystal thing for the portal? Were kinda stucka and we are on mobile.
