Hard mode bosses
Hey there, I have a question for the people who have been doing hard mode bosses recently.

How in the hell do you do them? For starters, I have an archer who is as expected a glass cannon. But as a first and bad mechanic of the boss, it oneshots you. Yes I realise I can invest into more life but the problem number 2 comes in after that. It's a freaking damage sponge! Even getting to the damage phase once I still only do at best 10% of it's HP when I'm fully decked out to dish out ridiculous amounts of damage though inevitably I'll die to one of their attacks. I've tried only the electro worm but I'm pretty sure that the same remains true for every other boss.

I then thought. While it is completely BS, maybe i'll just find something that tanks well and I will beat it that way, so I started looking at the wiki and found the mage that looked like a great choice. 30% spell damage mitigation, 30% form a potion, 25% from paladin legs, 11% from the staff. That's 96% mitigation, add a ring with 15% electro res just cause it's the best choice (by the way, really bad mechanics explanation which doesn't lets the player know whether spell damage resistence applies first or second to element resistence or whether they are stacked together). Then just add some passive life regen and it's done.

Of course the Wiki isn't updated in a long while. The potion is now 20%, the legs went from 25% to a completely ridiculous 2%. So now it can only do 63% resistence tops and this is while drinking potions like a madmen because killing the sponge will take anywhere from 15 minutes to 30 minutes at the speed of killing one tail at a time and them at least 10 damage phases.

So I have to ask, how are people doing this and please note that what I want to know is how people are soloing it because right now, this just seems like a complete waste of time content in place.

I have a feeling that Hard mode bosses are maybe meant for more people to beat, eventhough you can prolly solo them.
This game has mostly multiplayer in mind so i wouldn't be surprised if that was the main thought behind it.

If i want a challenge in a game, this isn't the game to play i would play other games tbh, then again HM bosses are prolly a challenge (i have no clue, trust me all the hours i spent in this game is building, heck after all these updates i didn't finish the game yet, i was left off at "The Gate" back then), haven't continued anymore.

So yes, i think the main thought as i said is them to beat with multiple people, since this game is more about the multiplayer adventure in mind.
And if someone solo the HM bosses, it,s prolly with 1 class, which isn't interesting at all, then make all classes be able to solo them easely.

They are all still doable alone, but you need to stay focus for the whole fight.
The hardest is, IMO the second HardBoss (Ice Dragon).
If you're careful enough, you can kill the Electro-Worm and the Light King without been hit, but you need some firepower for the Worm.
For these two, just be patient and, if you have the choice to attack or dodge : choose to dodge without a doubt.

For the Ice Dragon you also need to tank some damage (I don't remember how much exactly, I guess between 400-600 HP without potions) AND a way to evade her ice breath (rocket or teleport scroll).
Or let a teamate die on her breath while you stay away.

Good Luck.

Just got to learn the mechanics! I've been doing Hard Mode Bosses alone. They'll eventually feel like easy bosses once you get the mechanics. Also all depends on your gear. I main on a Full DPS Warrior. Very Low Def but Very High Damage. If you ever need help with any of them, feel free to add me and i can help you farm.

The only one I've done anything with so far is the Ancient Electro Worm and it seems to me the main goal here is: maximize DPS, don't care at all about defense.

Defense doesn't seem to matter at all. I've got the best armor I can get and chugging elec resist potions and I still get one-shotted no matter what. Defense literally means nothing in these fights, just learn to dodge or go home.

The key seems to be DPS. Unlike the regular worm, this guy's tail can go back into the ground if you take to long to break it (and you honestly only get like maybe 5 seconds) and when it does it restores to full health... if you can't break a tail in that period of time you can't beat the boss - physically impossible.

So yeah, the key seems to be... forget defense, it's meaningless, fight in your underwear if that's what it takes, just do absolutely everything humanly possible to get as much DPS as you possibly can because DPS is literally the only thing that matters.

Yeah it's a file and forget. I can bring the tails down no problem, but even at maximised DPS I can deal about 10% of it's HP when all tails go down. Considering the time it still takes to take down one tail per phase and then doing 10% of it's HP per damage phase all the while not being able to make single mistake and taking about 15 to 30 minutes just to beat a boss. Not worth the efforth!

Let me know if you need help. I seriously can help you out. It'll take us an average of 3-4 minute per Hard Mode Boss lol.

Thanks but no need. I only really cared for what content I could do by myself and that wasn't a waste of time to do it.

Considering the game's lack of end game content I've already decided to move on. Once the game gets an update I might check it out again but for now, this will be it. I don't really need anything the boss drops anyway.

i have been unable to defeat the hard mode worm boss with any character. The gear is just to weak to defeat it solo. Every guide i have read is so far out of date it isnt useful at all. Really wish the Dev's would come out with a new updated guide for all the classes or a balance fix with the gear.

Hello - I have a new guide for the electro worm for the druid class. Electro Worm Solo
Crowmire Mar 1, 2020 @ 2:52am
What others said, just focus and don't get hit. The worm is easiest, personally I used multistrike ranger build with throwing knives and poison rain spell. Double jump trousers help with the dodging. The ice dragon I haven't been able to solo, because the attack after it rises up seems to always hit. You need tank for that or a character who can take the hit. But we did beat it with my 7 year old son. They've really designed the bosses with multiplayer in mind, even with just two players you can run back to fight if you die. Just don't die at the same time.

Well , 2 things to know. I thought like for a long time, until I realise that warrior is the best class -if not the only playable class on hardmode (the drood seems legit however and havn't played rogue). Second , there is only one or two viable set of stuff to maximise your damage per class , everything else is worthless. For the warrior, I recently found a build that helped me to solo more or less easily every hardmode boss , while I could only do the worm with no issues before. Now in a short time I can solo all of them without much problem.
If anything , check the video of "TheChillGuy" on youtube , it helped me a lot.
