New classes
I know it might be a bit early for new classes but this is more for the future, near future, I hope.
I was just thinking about new classes and I think a tech class could work well here. Sure, we don't see any tech things out in the world except maybe the drill for drilling dirt.

But a tech with the ability to construckt small turrets, and in the talents tree be able to change the turret to, fire, lightning or water/ice. For weapon I would have to go with a gun or rifle or something similiar, with bullets, not lasers :)
Other abiltities (inventions?) could be a flamethrower, that works like the mages spells. You have the fmalethrower item down in you action bar and when u press the button asinged for it you start spraying fire in a cone infront of you for 2 sec. Press again to deactivate it.
I guess you could also add other sort of throwers, maybe a water hose but more tech :) and a lightningthrower. Could work quite well I belive.

I saw earlier that someone mentioned necromancer and with this dark/light powers that exists, I think that would be nice. Raising a skeleton, and I'm thinking maybe 2 at the most, weak skeletongs with melee attacks. And dark spheres and such. Melee weapon, schythe I guess, I say borrowing from Diablo 3 :)
Drain life is a must for a class of undead. Maybe a form of grip too, like a shoke or just grip but with limited time to how long you can hold them, maybe 2 seconds.
Maybe some kind of dark aoe attack that spawns out from the caster.

I guess dark powers would not be considered Portal Knight material but hey, it worked with Diablo 2 and who says dark forces can't be used for good.

That's all I have. Might not be the best idea, depends on the reader but don't attack for it if you don't agree wtih this.

I am actually kind of with this idea. Since they removed the mining skills in the talent tree over haul, it might be very refreshing to see a new class focused between Tech weapons for damage or increased mining proficiency. I for one liked the Mining spec Warrior build. since after level 10 you were pretty much safe on any map, (and if you had a Mob Guarding your ores, you could even deal with it.)

It does make some sense to add something sort of Steam-punky as an "inventor" class, since you have magic, it would fit in to have someone who plows through everything with science.

As far as what the class would do, I would think more along the lines of a drone that follows you (like pet does now) and it attacks when / what you do, and it is your primary source of damage. So your attack animation is to point at the mob and the drone fires.

All together though I do think this is a wonderful idea.

The drone thing is a nice idea. That would be something. Adding with talents a elemental dmg to it.

Ohhh, and a spell that lets us take control of the drone and fly it around to scout things out. I'm agreeing with a lot of the comments here. I'm not sure if I want to see more classes or just aspects added to the current classes to give more diversity (either way could be awesome).

So instead of adding a mechanical class, they'll add in some mechanical skills (like drones, turrets, mining perks) or some dark magic/necro spells ~ then each class can choose what abilities they want to focus on. In this way you could have a warrior necromancer who summons skeletons and uses a 2h weapon or a mage engineer class that uses magic and turrents.

hmm, what could they name a prospector-type class?

Raider? Looter? Miner?

Awesome ideas!
I mean if the developers decide to stick with the class restricted items they could definitely impliment a sub-class/specialization system which would be really cool. At a specific level you would decide to specialize in something. So like necromancy would be a subclass of a mage and then you would get access to new spells, items, and talents. Rangers could have a subclass of an assassin that specializes in melee damage with daggers as opposed to long range like an archer. And then we could have specializations that every class can take on like miner, woodworker, etc. and they are able to make items that more effectively gather materials like the drones or mining turrets, idk.

I love all of these ideas, especially the idea of adding a mechanical class like a tinkerer, that would be a fun class and I think it could fit into this game really well

Can't do anything than agree with you.
Sub classes for the existing ones would be nice. Right now they feel very restricted to only what weapon to use and with talents it's like "hm... 2 to choose from, which one do I want?? I close my eyes and choose."
Feels like that sometimes :D
Not that I close my eyes to choose and I do care what I pick but it doesn't feel too free like the rest of the game.

And on one more note. With a Assassin class they would need to add some sort of stealth for that class only and that would be nice. Love assassin playstyles in other games.

Hi guys,
nice ideas here. Thread has been moved to our suggestion subforum ;)
SandTag Feb 20, 2017 @ 2:32pm
the "ranger" just dosent feel right, i feel it should be split into a rouge and archer as dedicated classes, the same with warriors, they should really be paladins (axes/hammers) and barbarians (shouts, swords and axes), mages Might be better split into sub classes, but an entirley new magic user (blockmancer/warden) with a heavy focus on mining, golems and other minions would definetly fill the gap left when mining perks were removed

some food for thought, i hope we see more classes OR perks soon

The idea of having the ranger class choose the sub class assassin/rogue is very nice. And now after checking a thread about the warrior class and it's throwing axes that they can use, if assassin/rogue class is added either as sub or a whole class, 2 words: throwing knifes.
And as I said in the thread about throwing axes, I want to be able to pick up the knifes after I have used them.

Sence it is the only way a warrior, or assassin/rogue, would be able to use ranged I think that it's only fair to the class, to be able to pick them up. Let's say the knifes drops with the loot when the enemy that got hit died. Could be hard to make it happend in the game, i don't know, but it would be a nice thing :)

Guys... That gives me an idea..

Two separate classes.
One, a mining-focused class named "Raider" or "Looter" (like a tomb raider),
and a shield-wielding class

Man I love these ideas. <3 If they're not implemented I hope mods will be made possible in the future for people to make their own classes like that!

A mining focused class would be interesting to try out.
As for shield wielding, I say: Add shield to warrior class or to a sub class of warrior. I feel very exposed sometimes as a warrior due to me being melee!
