LAN?
So my fiance and I are playing this game, but are restricted to using the "friends anywhere" "who can join me" option, because when I set it to LAN, my game isn't available to her. Any info on this?

hi ya. same here, i cant join my brother with LAN so we've been joining via steam. i cant really find many discussion about this tho. some said its still a bug, i dunno sure.
maybe it has something to do with the fact that this game cannot be played offline. anyway i hope they will fix this. its a great game.

Before you press play with your chatacter, press the cog icon and select LAN,
then host a game, the other player needs the press Join and change the tab at the top of the screen to Local Play, Sometimes it will say offline before you can even prees this option, just reselect it.

Also if you game continues to drop out while in LAN, change both steam accounts to offline, LAN will work wuth steam in offline mode,

Hope this helps

Thanks, I'll try that out!
Hi guys,
not sure if that might be the problem for you but: After setting your game to LAN, like RU80 already correctly mentioned. The Steam friends system has no input to your game anymore. When you try to join someones LAN game by using the Steam overlay it won't work. You have to use the ingame joining dialoge and change it to "Local Network".

LAN is still not working properly. i use the ingame joining dialoge and change it to "Local Network". I can't search my friend room .In 0.7.3 it is OK to work
Hi Firefox,

the LAN mode of the game works fine. Please confirm that your friend has really started a LAN game by setting the mode correctly in the cog icon menu. Please also confirm that you guys are actually in the same LAN.

I had same problem. fixed it adding two rules in the windows firewall to allow incoming tcp and udp traffic to portal_knights_x64_game.exe

I just had this problem... I just turned windows firewall off for both PCs and the game appeared. If you're running another type of firewall you may have to disable it too on both PCs.

If I bother to figure out what TCP/UDP ports PK is using, I'll edit this comment and post again.

Or you could ask the dev, who has replied to this thread at least three times already...

I might also add, I have connected pc to pc using cable, in the network setting you must change the IP address of both pc's something like 192.168.0.20 and other 192.168.0.21 manually,

If linking to a LAN switch or router it sets it up for you automaticlly.

Is it possible to somehow host a game so 2 computers on LAN can use one steam account but also can play with another person online? (2 lan 1 online).

I think this could be an issue with some routers, maybe specially with wifi... but i can be wrong, as well why not to let us specify an ip:port?
