To be honest though, I found it is better to upgrade one well rounded weapon full and stick with it rather than slowly upgrade them all for different situations on the first playthrough. I saved the others for the NewGame+.
Personally, I use the Ingelldina Powersword and the Ceres Bolt Pistol. They seem to have the right balance with speed and damage for me. Add the extra health purity seals and you are golden.
The plasma weapons hold so few shots that they are not worth the damage output in my opinion. If you go with the plasma weapons you almost have to use the extra ammo purity seals to make them useful.
You could replace the Ceres Bolt Pistol with the Scipio Stub Pistol if you like, it holds a few less rounds in the mag but does a bit more damage.
One big problem with this game is the heavy preference to do stealth kills which means that at the end of the day you will use your regular weapons only in boss fights or scripted events where stealth isn't possible.
