Steam account
Is there any way I can get my steam account to still work with aion even though it's not on the store anymore? (for whatever reason) I don't really like the idea of starting from scratch, cause I put a lot of time into my main character.

If you already have the Steam version of Aion installed it'll still run, even though the game was removed from the store. All Steam ever did was launch the Aion launcher, anyway.

If you uninstalled the Steam version of Aion I'm sure you can send a ticket to Aion Support and have the NCSoft account you've been using to play it unlinked from Steam.

I did uninstall it,but I kinda...made an account with the same email as this account for aion. WIll that screw it up?

If you mean you made an Aion account using the same email address you used for your Steam account you should be fine but you'll probably have to get Aion support (really it's NCSoft support) to unlink the account from Steam before you can use it with a nonSteam version of the game. They can do this and I'm sure they will if you ask them. They have pretty fast support, too, usually.

If you already have or are planning to get the nonSteam version of Aion, what I would do is launch it and try to log in using the email and password information for whatever account you were using to play the Steam version. It might work fine already, since the nonSteam Aion client allows you to log into multiple accounts. Just make sure you're not trying to use the Gameforge version, which is completely different and your account will never work there under any circumstances.

Yes, I was worried about this also. You can simply go on their website, download the game and login with your old information. :)

By "Old information",do you mean your steam account? Email and all? Cause that's what I had linked and that's what I tried, but it didn't work.

Sorry- I should have specified, I believe upon account creation with Aion they had us create an account on the website even if we had downloaded through steam (Theory, however I am feeling certain..memory is foggy :s).

I originally tried with my steam info and failed- then attempted with one of my main emails and my more "basic" passwords and had successfully gotten into my account. I'd recommend trying to reset your password on their site with the emails you believe to be the most used. However, be careful, they will temporarily lock your account out after too many failed password attempts or code verifications. (Anywhere from a few mins to maybe a few hours)

I had to go through all of this yesterday as for my steam took a dump on me. The only thing that prevented me from uninstalling was Aion- a friend had informed me that Aion is no longer supported through Steam or whatever. I had the intentions of calling customer support on Aions website but decided to try logging in instead and was successful. Played the game last night and all of my alts are still there- safe and sound. :)

Let me know if you get any progress with this- I am subscribed to this discussion.

You can still get it from the website. Getting it thru Steam provided no benefits at all, anyway.

NCSoft has denied it but I've always said and will stand by the belief that they only brought it back to Steam for a little while hoping to make up whatever loss of players the game suffered due to the release of Blade and Soul, which happened at about the same time. Supposedly, they were only removing it temporarily but it's been gone for several months now and now even the store page is gone. Lineage 2 has also been taken off "temporarily".

In any case, Aion is absolutely NOT the game it used to be. It's all casual easymode now and nobody dares put their pinky toe out of the fast track server until they're forced to. Pre cap standard maps are total ghost towns and I do mean total. Dredges are dominated by a handful of twink groups on both sides and sometimes you're lucky to get even 1 run in the 2 hour window. Even if you do your group is probably just going to AFK or rage quit in hopes of reentering against a bunch of weak rank 8s (even some twinks do this), since so few people run it anymore that you often get put in against the same uber-geared twinks, over and over and over, day after day, that rush to wipe you at your 2nd surk then camp your pad and call you noob for 40 minutes while half their group clears the entire instance... then those same twinks run back to fast track server and spend the rest of the day dueling PvEers.

I'm sure for new or PvE-minded players it's still a great game but if you're an old-schooler that liked everything the game had to offer throughout or a PvPer you'll probably mostly just want to vomit when you see how badly the game has been gutted. And the stigma system has been utterly ruined.

Although I have only played Aion for a year or two- I still love the game completely. I have a soft spot in my heart for games like this. My biggest problem at this point is the lack of (not entirely- just harder to get into dungeons at times) players. It takes longer for me to form groups. Secondly, finding people who speak English is.... certainly a trick.

I honestly...never party up on MMO's. I don't know why,but I almost always play through the game solo, which makes it harder. I kind of like it that way though. The only times I'll party up are durning extremely hard boss fights or I'm forced.

I love it, too, and have for many years but at the same time I hate it. It's like that one girl you know that's really pretty, a real sweetheart and a blast to hang out with, not to mention other things she does well but she's still a skank, lazy, a liar and she smokes... in her car... with the windows up.

Everytime the developers touch Aion they ruin it just a little bit more. With the exception of some minor, mostly fake improvements to gear enhancement the game has been on a steady downhill slide since 3.5. Many would argue since even before then. It's still fun to play sometimes but now it's not much more than a race to see who can get kicked off fast track the soonest and then get totally destroyed in PvP because the only enemy faction players they've ever layed their eyes on have all been in screenshots and YouTube hacker videos.
