Other than that I recommend practicing with him in practice mode where it shows the range of his attacks. You will notice that attacking at point blank range makes Triceracop move back as described, but attacking at max range hardly moves him at all or even moves him toward the enemies instead! Getting used to this can help you to attack foes at specific distances to try and steer Triceracop from danger. Such as waiting until the last possible moment to attack the first in a group to be pushed away, or attacking quickly to move towards an enemy.
