Is AvP 2 scary?

Hi im thinking about getting AvP 2 soon and I heard it was scary.Is that true?I hope it is since there isnt any scary Alien games out so far.

Not really. At least it wasn't for me, back when I played it. The game's graphics and lighting is so cartoonish I could never take it seriously.

Basically, the Predator and Alien campaign you feel no fear, but the Marine campaign on the other hand... It's not exactly terrifying, but it has a very tense atmosphere.

Not scary maybe in marine campagin. But I can tell ya right now AVP2 is by far the best aliens game ever. Really respectful to Aliens.

IMO, it is less scary than AVP1. AVP2: heavily scripted, relies on musical tension (no music, no fear), slow, has stupid bots, has a railway gameplay, and a third of the marine campaign you fight ... other people. AVP1: aliens are fast and deadly, acid kills, aliens are constantly looking for you throughout the level in never stopping waves, no saves (limited saves in GE), scary even without music - the most scary game I have ever played. So, if you do not find it scary enough... then AVP2 will not work either. AVP2 feels much like DOOM3 (or, rather, the opposit).

You're really talking about marine campaigns because in the other two, you're the scary one ;) So in AvP1, the marine campaign is way scarier because the aliens are faster and harder to kill. In 2, the marine campaign is not as difficult but they tried to make it more atmospheric and they added more "scripted" scares, which are effective the first time you see them, like a theme park ride. Both games do a great job of capturing the mood, sounds, music, etc of the movies, and 2 has better campaign missions in general, imo. Hope that helps.

It's definatley frightening on over 50% of all the marine levels, especially the ones that take place in alien hives, but the Alien campaign none whatsoever, but it's really the story of the game, and even the characters, it's the best game i have ever owned, in 10 years+ of owning tons of games, and some Predator levels are scary too. I recoomend this game over any other that's ever been made, and highly recommend you get it, you won't be dissapointed.

I'm not sure exactly what game or expansion pack this was from, but I was at a friends house and he had an AVP game on. It was a narrow passage through some rocks and it was above the ground. It was dark inside and honestly, I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scarred. This was before any scary game like half life 2 with good graphics and super hardcore GORE.

AVP2 still looks really good too. I was surprised. The atmosphere is very distant. Like you are on another planet that isn't inhabited.

Find it on ebay or craigslist for cheap. I got mine for $3 brand new at compusa YEARS ago. Still have it in the box and everything. Best $3 I ever spent.

For what this game is, it can be taken either way. If you allow yourself to be scared, then it will be scary. It really what you make of it.


But please don't let the scare factor sway you away from this game. This is a really fun game, with alot of parts that will make you go :O !!!

It's more creepy than scary,due to more mysterious and dark atmosphere than predecessor (play 'Old Debts' or 'Long Detour' level on hardcore to see what I'm saying).

When I originally edited this together and put it up, it got rebellion some 40,000 free views. Then they took it down based on a claim that I used their PRECIOUS CONTENT. They sure don't give a damn now that I reuploaded it now that their piece of ♥♥♥♥ game crashed so hard they cant even give it away for $5 in bins where its mixed in with Barbie Fun Adventure. All they had to do was copy AVP2 and AVP and slightly improved the graphics and it would have floored the entire gaming community. But no. Enjoy your unsellable product with pretty graphics.
