this one compared to jaguar version

if any one has played the atari jaguar version of aliens vs predator, how do they commpare. havent played an aliens vs predator game since jaguar version. any thoughts

I never played the Jaguar version but I have seen videos of it. IT looks really fun and almost like doom. This version is almost like quake and halflife. If you havent played any other avp or alien games then I suggest you start. Each game has a unique gameplay style and story. Its a shame you are missing out. You are still able to play all 3 species in upgraded game play and story each game. Here is the list of my favorite avp/aliens game, (My opnion),

Not played the Jaguar version either, but this game is certainly held in high regard, and rightly so. Judging by the very nature of your question, I'd guess that you don't mind your games being "old-school", and if that's the case, you could do a lot worse than this. It's a classic, but you do need to bear in mind that it's about 13 years old. If that doesn't sound like a reason to be put off it, I think you may enjoy.

it was only 4.99 so i bought it anyway. i have only played the marine side so far. the aliens are very quick. and hard to hit sometimes. so far i love it.

I used to have the jaguar version which was basically a doom clone, AvP1 gold was an amazing breakthrough in graphics, lighting and atmosphere. It is obviously dated and old but at least can be heralded as a breakthrough for the franchise. In comparison... hmm the jaguar version isn't worth mentioning, even tho it did introduce the three playing styles to the genre and even retains some lost features such as the aliens infesting a host a a 'spawn/save' point it loses hands down to AvP1... but in my opinion the only one really worth playing out of all four AvP's is AvP2 with primal hunt addon pack, for MP mayhem, slick alien wall climbing, pulse racing plasma spamming & lock and load survival shootouts in the dark, moniliths aductation is the king.. in my personal opinion of course.

I actually prefer this to AvP2. I realise I'm in the minority, but go figure. I also quite like AvP 2010. Again, in the minority, I think. I'm a glutten for punishment, too, waiting for Colonial Marines coming with the post, despite the fact that it is, by all accounts, pretty darn awful.

Avp 2 was good. Apperantly its not on steam due to a licensing problem with the music xD. lame right?

Avp was FAST, relentless, and dark, no mercy at all. and tons of fun when u have a full game

I loved the jaguar release, at the time. It hasn't aged well though. I just played it a few weeks back, and it kind of sucks. There's not much in the way of storyline at all, I mean, yea, it exists but it seems forced. The main point is just kill and kill and kill.

This version, like most released after it, has a storyline(In fact several, one for each faction)..overall it's great. I recomend it to anyone.

My favorite was the 2010 game though, although to be fair, I haven't played AVP2, so it maybe incredibly better. However, I like playing the Alien, and the Alien campaign in '10 was much better than the alien campaign in 2000.

Hey Monolith, I have never used a graphical mod like that. I noticed it's divided into 2 files, do you just unpack both files to the AVP folder or will there be instructions on how to set it up? Either way, thanks for tossing the link out for people who might not have known about it :D

wow cool to see players having most of the AvP, Aliens games like my self. i sitll paly the jaguar version cos its hard compated to the rest and its the game that started it all
