SOLVED - Direct3D Initialisation Failure

So I just bought this game, having really wanted to play it, but no matter what I try it just refuses to work. I've made sure my drivers are updated too. Reading through other discussions didn't help so I started my own. If I can't get this resolved, I'll have no choice but to refund. It shouldn't be this complicated and buggy to play a game in this day and age, especially not when money is involved.

Edit: I solved the issue. Apparently, if your display settings for your monitor is set to "Maintain aspect ratio" it causes Direct3D to fail to initialize. I hope this helps others that come across this problem.

Thank you for posting the solution. Is the way to correct it on the monitor itself or did you find it under the Control Panel?

It was in my Intel Graphics Settings when I right-click my desktop, under the Display options. I'm guessing given how few people seem to come across the issue, that its a problem with Intel.

Another fix that seemed to work for me, when all otehr suggestions failed:

Right click on the game in your steam library
click properties
Under the "general" tab, click "Set Launch Options"
type -w or -sw
Try launching the game. It'll be in windowed mode, but you can manually set it to fullscreen, or it should go to fullscreen once you enter gameplay. Hope this helps.

Sigh a lot has change since I last played it glad the -w solution works but why couldn’t they added a borderless option (update found out why I was getting it was because I was using a tv monitor…. What I though it be cheaper to just use my Samsong smart tv as a monitor I didn’t know till now that would happen anyway just though I give a heads up)
