i dont understand this. i mean im looking at it and im guessing the exp gaps are the things i should be worried about, right?

yeah, you want to time your exp card usage around those points

All you have to do is never go 5 levels over the monsters/quests you're killing/doing.

There is something called XP RESETS in ToS. Unlike most MMOs who have a linear line up the xp-required-to-level graph, ToS has waves. At certain points like level 86 your required XP to level up drops significantly and scales back up again. That means you will want to grind or use cards to get through the tough 84/85 level then you can zoom to level 90 fast. Then at 90 you can run the 90 dungeon for 15-20 levels there before moving on.

Here is the graph I think works best: https://i.imgur.com/RVYMlmE.jpg

Yup like the above posters said there is no experience curve. It is wave that hits a cliff every forty or so levels. It should roughly match up with your job level and bottom out when you get a new circle. Why they do this I have no idea.

Why is this the case? I know that enemies start to falloff roughly ten levels lower then the player but there is no problem with monsters scaled above the player. Is there like a damage reduction or something that happens? I have read multiple sources saying that monsters above you give the same experience regardless of level. I have even tested this myself although it would be nice to see that as actual experience points instead of a percentage point (cough cough IMC.) Can I see a source for your information?

Yes, You will notice the names of mobs change color more than 5 levels above you. They get increased DEF and ATK. Not worth messing with. Either use some cards to catch up, or go to a map that is more your level. This game has several points where you need to stop the mainline quest and go clear a few other maps to catch up in levels. The first real evidence of this is Tenet Church where it will jump into the 40s faster than you can keep up.

also you can tell what places you should grind at on the full map(press M then click full map in the upper right corner), that names of maps are green if they're too low grey is just right and red and too high.

EXP curve starts at 46 and loop every 40 lvls (46, 86, 126, and so on)
