Oh don't worry, if you don't get decent / good gears after lvl 300 it'll be pretty difficult (in fact even with good weapons some enemies still takes some time to die).
Of couse, for party stuff like Challenge Mode, if you have a good healer it'll mzkr things easier, however if you keep taking a lot of damage because your equips sucks, even a good healer won't be enough to save you.
Ok great, but all story/solo content before level 300 is going to be anticlimactic and boring?
Not necessarily. Sure there's a lot of quests in general and it gets repetitive (most of the time killing mobs, sometimes annoying stuff, etc), but if you care about the lore and story, i guess it'll be fine.
I haven't done all the quests myself, but from what i've seen on forum the game has some pretty interesting stuff going on, story-wise.
Equips-wise i'm not sure how it is now before 300 with all the randomized-stats equips, i leveled my char before they added these.
Well the game is very unique and there really is nothing like it (except maybe Path of Exile a little, except that obviously doesn't have the same JRPG charm/style) so I suppose I'll give it another chance. The story and setting itself is fine, it's just that it's a bit difficult to be invested in and believable when everything dies so quickly.
The common consensus (or excuse) I read about the lack of difficulty is that the real game doesn't start until 360. But I like levelling and growing/developing, I enjoy the journey. So maybe the game just isn't for me (unless I learn to like end-game content and/or PvP)?
