Are Companions useless?

Mine hardly seems to deal any damage compared to myself, even with relatively-good equipment on it. They miss most of the time in combat, and barely make a difference. At the moment, it's just a drain on resources, having to either refill it's Stamina (or level quickly enough to negate the rapid drop).

I'm almost certain they've changed the rate at which Stamina decreases too. It wasn't running out so quickly a couple of days ago.

There are certain classes that uses companion for thier skils and are able to ride them
For archer class its the hakapel ,falconer

Oh, I know about classes that use them. I mean generally, in combat, for the avergae player. Let's say one that doesn't have them as a skill, and just taking them along for "support."

I've had two so far. The green penguin, and a free Velheider. Both are just awful at fighting, deal minimal damage, miss 99% of the times they try to attack anything because of the rather large delay in actions (bad scripting, I'm assuming). And as I mentioned, the Stamina drop is ridiculous.

After dragging one around for a few days, I see zero benefit to having it. They don't augment your character in any way whatsoever and are pathetic fighters. Feels like the only reason they exist (for characters who don't use them for a class), is to eat away at your money.

Oh in that case yeah they are utter useless for combat on thier own . They are more of aesthetic sense that allows you to ride them

However sometimes we do get events that give us a % bonus to exp if we take them along

That's not too bad, if you get extra exp sometimes. I keep forgetting that you can ride them (or certain ones, with the right class anyway). So used to just running around everywhere.

Got a Winter Penguin from the event. Stamina-wise, it's much better. Has 600 and seems to last quite a long time, even having it out constantly, compared to the others. Guess I'll just keep him around for trotting around on instead.

Real shame they don't have a more feasible role for classes that don't use them. I don't know, perhaps different ones could give a small bonus to certain stats. Or just a small overall percentage to all. Even a 1% increase would be something.
