I do use them, but only for their ability to gather up all your wandering minions into a single room. I stuff that one room full of loot items and roughly enough beds to support a third of the base's population. All the overlapping loot effects keep my minions in tip top shape, and besides- they're minions! If they absolutely must sleep, they can use the floor. Otherwise, they can engage in fisticuffs to win one of the few beds in my base. It's wonderful entertainment, and completely free!
A simple bedroom system:
If you want a bedroom, then put it somewhere strategic with loudspeakers. That ensures a lot of minions will come out and deal with agents you have applied a tag too, once they are spotted on the security cameras. (The lazy workers love sleeping)
If you have it fairly near the entrance with an outside security system 1 and an inside security system 2, then they can fast run out and deal with the spotted foes.
You do not want only 1 security system. That will in worst case send almost your whole base on a run to deal with a single puny tourist.
I'm in the late game and my beds have become redundant as have any stat regen equipment. The loot items take care of everything. I've only executed one minion and that was by accident.
Its all about the lay-out. You get that right then everything becomes much simpler. Best place for your genius is the control room.
