Anyone remember how the game handles strongroom gold?
When I was younger I liked making a big strongroom for my gold deep in my base and had a smaller one "up top" for the briefcase racks. I tried doing that now but the rack room keeps filling up with gold.
Wasn't there a way to manipulate how gold was stored?

I remember now. The other strongroom NEEDS a Briefcase Rack to qualify for storing gold. Then the game will stop stacking gold in front of the racks in your "briefcase room".

Edit: Still doesn't work. >_< Still filling up my tiny room before the big one. Urgh.

You can't stop the tiny strongroom from filling up with gold, but the way I do it is that I make a really small strongroom about 2x2 and then place the briefcase rack directly at the place where normally the door would be. This way the gold will only fill up the unaccesible space in the back of the strongroom and the briefcase stays accessible for your minions.

One could do that but how do you keep the enemy agents out of there?

Why keep a tiny one? Gold always stacks from the top downward. I build a large one off the top of the barracks. I put the rack at the southern end, one space away from the door. Gold will stack from the top of the room downward. The advantage is that enemy agents must enter the barracks area to reach it.

To have the advantage of quickly getting cash to buy stuff with but not having the my hard stolen gold laying around for the thieving bastard agents to steal... Back.

Your forgetting something. Where your workers are determines how quickly they get to the gold. The program selects the worker and it isn't always the closest one to the gold. By having the strongroom door inside the barracks where the majority of your workers hang out helps. It also gives you added security. Not having a door is like a big neon sign saying GOLD HERE.

That is exactly what I'm doing. Minus the barracks part. My racks are outside the control room, close to were all my minions hang out. My main Strongroom is deep inside my base, through my Armoury with holding cells and a guarded door.

Well you could try this. Delete all your racks. Then place your first rack at the large room and the second at the small room.

It may make your minions use the big room first, I don't know, but I'd try it.

If your strongroom is that close to the Front Entrance that there is any risk from enemy agents, then your strongroom is too close to the Front Entrance!

My thoughts are, keep the one single strongroom deep inside the lair. OK, this means the minions will take maybe an extra 45 seconds to get there to get gold, then another 55 seconds to get out to the depot. OH WELL.

This is what is known in the Trades as "Penny Wise and Pound Foolish". It means you're wasting energy on an extremely small problem, so much so, that you're probably ignoring other problems that are much more important.

Just keep the one strongroom, deep inside the lair. Deep enough that, if you do happen to notice an Agent of Justice stealing your gold (yah, I said it, it's yours you stole it fair and square) -- eh hem -- if you do notice an Agent of Justice trying to waltz out of your lair with some of your ill-gotten gains, the strongroom should have been far enough in that you'll have plenty of time for your minions and henchmen to make mincemeat out of said Agent before he gets to the exit.

But that's more fun! :D Being Penny Wise and Pound Foolish. :P

No agent that get dirt on me or steal my stuff gets out alive. Tag for Capture and then execution in a cell block using a Freezer for a corridor.

I know I'm late to the party but do you guys not just lock up your gold strong room and guard it with traps? I have 2 small corridors full of traps and locked with level 3 security and that does just fine for agents. Only issue I had was a place to put loot so I built a second strong room much deeper inside the base.

I normaly don't put traps in front of the strongroom, because there are always a lot of my troops there and if an agent or tired minion activates the trap, then it'll also hit my own people.

I've got a long straight corridor lined with security 4 doors protecting my gold room. Since the doors are all set to the highest security, agents will try to pick those first, and will promptly get pummeled by the minions guarding them. The doors themselves don't actually go anywhere, just to small two square empty rooms.
