Looking for advice on playing brewer
I love the alchemy system in this game. I know it is going to take me a few playthroughs to really see the combinations automatically in my head. The brewer class is there, but I'm a little concerned. Are there enough materials in a dungeon to make it worthwhile?

I know that fountains/faucets are plentiful but I never really ran across a ton of empty vials. From what I understand, there is some RNG on whether you get the glass back once expending a potion.

Any advice?

Brewer is indeed RNG related, and pretty much focused on making potions. There's really only a few recipes you'd wanna memorize, but the Compendium has a brewing chart always available to you during your runs. Potion shops are a godsend for Brewer, being able to stock up on whatever you need. Brewer is also a pretty strong case of snowballing - he starts off slow, but once you amass a huge supply of Firestorm Potions, you're gonna be steamrolling the final boss. I also recommend being a Goatman for playing Brewer, since Goatman can get more random potions from drinking/using fountains.

Here's a few recipes that are a must to focus on during your runs:

Acid + Sickness > Firestorm

Fruit Juice + Speed > Invisibility

Fruit Juice + Blindness > Cure Ailment

Fruit Juice + Cure Ailment > Restore Magic

Invisibility + Restore Magic > Greater Healing Potion

You can also make Firestorm via Acid + Cure Ailment, but i strongly recommend saving any and all Cure Ailment potions for making Restore Magic Potions.

Also to add to this, the Alchemy skill gives you different bonuses to pretty much anything that Brewer does. The Brewer starts with a whopping 50 points to Alchemy, the highest base Alchemy in the game, with that level of Alchemy, the Brewer gets the following effects:

25% increased Potion Effect Damage
25% increased thrown Potion Damage
70% chance to duplicate potions via Alchemy with water
80% chance to gain an empty glass bottle after consuming a potion
60% chance to salvage an empty bottle when you brew new potions.

So to answer your question about the scarcity of empty glass bottles - The Brewer pretty much never runs out, and you can always buy a few more from Potion Shops - wether it be directly buying empty ones or buying potions you won't use in brewing and just drinking them.

I also love Brewer! Their low STR and CON makes them a poor fighter, so you should stay stealthy and opt for ranged or magic as soon as possible. They have a better than average Leadership skill, so grabbing some early recruits should help you, they're probably much better fighters than you are (just do whatever you can to protect them from trolls and boulders :/ ). If you've got nothing else to work with, mixing Booze with Blindness will give you a potion of strength to help deal with rats and skeletons (A helpful mnemonic: a blind, drunken rage :) ).

Potions of Firestorm are excellent emergency weapons and they're fairly common for their strength. Other potions like invisibility, confusion, blindness, or paralysis will help you in more niche situations. Healing potions are probably your greatest asset, especially if you're playing with a group or a team of recruited NPCs.

Also your backpack allows you to carry more quivers, staves, and spellbooks, so feel free to hoard them

I very much agree with everything said here. The backpack is pretty much a must to have if you want to stockpile potions, especially for someone like me that tends to clog up their inventory with gems to have a chance to get rich later on. Recruiting friendly NPCs is always helpful, regardless of class - they're just good meatshields.

Strenght Potions can also be used as an emergency tool for when you don't find a Might ring for the Sokoban minigame - I find Sokoban to be a must to do on each run, especially on a Goatman Brewer with reduced resistance to magic damage.

Potions of Firestorm are my go-to for Brewer - I always make sure to get as many as I can to then steamroll the final boss - wether it be the Baron or The Archmages. Also, Firestorm Potions can be used to destroy tiles, unlike Icestorm/Thunderstorm Potions. (Allowing you to access certain secret levels, like the beforementioned Sokoban)

You're welcome! If you'd need any more advice for the hidden gem that is Barony, I'd be glad to help once again. :)

I’m going to add a small point to the usefulness of Firestorm potions: if you or one of your multiplayer friends are playing as an automaton, Firestorm potions can be drank to fully power the boiler without taking damage, just like using scrolls of fire.
Decanting is also super useful to have inventory space and strengthen the weaker potions if say you have two of the same type.

You put the stronger potion in the left and weaker in the right. Same type. So two healing potions, you put +50 in left and +20 in right and you get two +50 IIRC.
I dunno if anyone's said it, but you definitely want to be a Goatman as a Brewer. Their free potions mean free flasks, allowing you to keep on mixing and stockpiling. The other races work too, but. Yeah. Goatmen, for sure.
