So... Any way to make the Final Boss feel less. Bad?
So I just finished run as the Accursed Vampire without turning off the Aura. Wasn't too bad, actually, but the final boss (You know the one. Avoiding the name for anyone who cares about spoilers.) Doesn't... feel great. It more or less turned into running around with half my armour missing so I could not be hit while pelting low damage-free-casts at the bosses. It was tedious, but I got it done.

Despite their weaknesses, I was only doing about 10 damage on a punch? To both of them? And I can't really sit there and tank, the spells hurt a LOT, I am but a little baby hit and run class. Being able to sneak attack enemies for their entire health bars was great, right until the boss, and thanks to my extreme lack of any HP regen / heal spells... Well, made it a touch more tedious.

The short of this is: What was I doing wrong, and what could I do better next time.

They have massive weaknesses to all physical damage as far as i recall, so if you've been able to clobber full health enemies to death with sneak attacks, I have no idea how you were only doing 10 damage a punch.
Charge attacks, hit and run, staying mobile to dodge the magic and stocking up on magic resist is the way to go for me.

I assume it might have something to do with the fact that my unarmed wasnt QUITE at 100 yet, but stealth was. The damage I deal to, say, Crystal Golems on a charged backstab, vs a normal Charged strike is... A lot.

You still should've been doing some pretty hefty damage. Are you sure it wasn't 100 instead of 10?
Accursed is a more powerful spellcaster than brawler, though. In the future, I'd recommend snagging some Restore Mana potions and let loose with the real stuff.

Yeah, no, I was doing like... maybe 15 at most. Close to 100 on sneak attacks, but those are the huge backstab bonuses.
15 at most ot the boss, fyi. Somehow Gungnir, with barely levelled polearms (like, 15.) and Worn was doing more damage than my fists at about 75 with spiked-steel gloves. It was a bit miserable xD

also without the cure you played hardmode.

When cured, the vampiric aura become an active spell that give +25%/5 strenght point (it pick the best result). Making your punches doing massive damage with life drain on hit.

Else like said above, it's mostly a sneaky caster class.

You know, for some reason, I was under the illusion it was a buff/debuff that was just always active. Which is probably why I went for doing it in the worst possible way the first time xD

I actually did have some mana potions, not many, mind, because I don't tend to be very lucky with potions and I didn't feel like stopping to do Alembic stuff what with the very fast ticking clock

I would unironically say that Alchemy is at least in the top 3 for strongest skills in the game. so I would honestly recommend always stopping to do that Alembic stuff. I always make sure to leave the Hamlet with at least 9 Restore Mana potions and at least a couple Extra Healing potions, they're almost always for sale.

Believe me. Nothing in the game can kill you faster than you can chug 10 Extra Healing potions.

Oh yeah, I know. The alchemy is great if you put the time investment into it. I've had a stack of extra healing i chugged through to kill a minotaur before (only went through about half of my heals) from the potions i've mixed. lately I've been fumbling it, and I hate sitting around trying to remember things that won't stick in my brain - especially on multi :x
UPDATE for those who care (it's cool if you don't, obviously!):
So I just did a run as an Insectoid Huntress. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The final boss, I'm doing 70+ damage per shot, I'm consistently outpacing them too. They didn't stand a chance.
What was a SLOG for my Accursed, my Insectoid completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stomped.
