No longer able to craft an alembic as a Mechanist
Heyo, recently picked up the game with a group and was happy to be able to craft an alembic as a Mechanist for whoever would be the potion person, but after this update the alembic has been replaced by some goggles that seem to buff the speed of the turrets up?

Seems like a bit of an unnecessary nerf, no?

Which got replaced by an item that works with tinkering? Therefore... the same amount of options?
They can't make potions using the goggles so... it is less options

you are missing the point. i believe the devs didn't consider why the alembic was able to be crafted with the tinkering kit, when they first added them. yes, the tinkering kit was in a sense, nerfed, because it is unable to make the brewer redundant.

the tinkering kit being able to craft the alembic was an obvious oversight. i personally don't see it as a nerf, more like they are finally fixing something that should not have been possible to begin with.
Is there any way to repair the Alembic once it breaks or do you just have to find another? I'm in a pretty late game run as Ninja with a high Tinkering skill, one of my party members is a Merchant who was doing a lot of Alchemy and his Alembic broken. IIRC it said it couldn't be repaired at all, not just that my skill was too low, so I salvaged it. Could it have been repaired with magic or a scroll? I really don't like the amount of things you can't repair in this game.

Don't think you can repair alembics. And most items you can't repair once they are completely broken.

Maybe if you found a scroll of repair? But I'm not sure it'd be useable on an alembic.

Unfortunately, much like you, I agree that these repairs end up compounding and make for a frustrating experience...
If you put the effort to max tinkering, which already takes forever (even if you start as the class with the kit from the get go) you should be able to repair anything.
