If you do not get this popup, then you don't have a savegame.
Barony is a roguelike with perma-death, so if you died in your previous run, your savegame will not show up.
Bear in mind though, there is an issue right now wherein if somebody dies, their auto-save will be deleted, so everybody must be ALIVE to quit and reload the game successfully. This was introduced intentionally for singleplayer mode to prevent save-scumming, but in multiplayer it tends just to be a huge nuisance since it can prevent players from rejoining games sometimes. At any rate, it will be fixed in the next patch.
