How exactly does "Dominate" work ?
As in title, I happened to kill myself when trying to dominate arleady dominated mob that became aggresive against me. So how does it work? It says "21 mana" in cost but consumes a lot more.

Yeah, i had that happen to me too. It almost looks like it takes additional mana depending on how strong the monster is, or something...

Once I get my magic/casting up to that level, I find it more worthwhile to just spam Magic Missile :) Other cool spells like acid spray, and dominate, but those waste your mana, that you might need for healing or digging or some utility!

The spell costs 21 + the targets HP. So chances are if it looks big you might want to soften it up a bit before you recruit it!

Guys, if you have a life-saving amulet, you can potentially dominate anything, not tested on bosses. Tested on cockitrice.

Dominating a boss, if it works, probably means you can't exit the level until you kill them anyway. Secondly, if it summons other creatures, they will probably still be hostile.

Bosses can't be Dominated. The Amulet of Life Saving strategy is genius.

I see. That's a good use for life saving. I never carry 'em around, magic reflection I find to be much more valuable. But if I can sacrifice them to dominate a crystal golem and cockatrice, awesome. Now if only they could equip gear...

I happened across the spell randomly knowing nothing about it at the beginning of the Crystal Caves, and decided to try it out on a Cockatrice. Much to my luck I had nearly full mana/hp and an amulet of lifesaving already equipped. Didn't expect to lose all my health, mana, and amulet at the cost of 1 spell, but it was well worth it. Until my friend accidentally swung on my buddy and it laid him out.
