Why does my amulet become a cursed after wearing it, even if it was originally a blessed.
I've been killed many times by amulets

+2 blessed amulet of Olympic Swimming becomes -1 cursed.

Appraise amulets before wearing them. If it’s an amulet of strangulation, it will do a lot of damage if not outright kill you. Even if it appears blessed in the inventory, strangulation amulets always become cursed when worn so they can’t be removed on the fly by most races.

It shouldn't be strangling you if it's not an amulet of strangulation.
If it's strangling without being one, you've probably got leftover code from some mod you played with... and you need to reinstall the game, start over with a clean copy.
