Succubus and Goatmen recruiting
How do I make their recruiting abilities work. I've played multiple succubus and goatman runs and never managed to get a follower after boozing or confusing them.

What am I missing?

You should be able to right click a confused or drunk human (back off and make sure they're not attacking you, sneak up on them) as a succubus, and goatman should recruit goblins/humans if you're drunk and you hit them with a bottle of booze

Wait what? How am I supposed to have them not see me if I hit them with a confuse potion/spell?

Also I have my right click bound to block and my E bound to use. Whats the actual command?

It's the E key (use) in your case.

Hit em with the status effect, then run away til they de-aggro (confusion will last at least 20 seconds, booze like a minute) and go back and recruit!

That seems to make the succubus strictly worse than humans at recruiting humans, and depending on the human's location an approach that doesn't aggro can be impossible...

I just went through a co op match and my buddy who was cleric had an army of humans that he charmed simply by encountering them, while I, a succubus lucky enough to have a confuse spell managed to bag a grand total of 0. Also my charm staff broke and was essentially useless to begin with, as everything I charmed died instantly. Even a troll because it immediately encountered a second troll and got unlucky. I ended up just being a person with bad AC and health who stabbed people with a cursed spear and got gibbed constantly.

The succubus mesmer seems strictly worse than the skeleton conjuror at this point, but maybe I just havent gotten to the mega hyper lategame and managed to charm some sort of eldritch horror that a loyal skeleton companian could never hope to measure up to.

Either way the beginning is rough for succubi if that's honestly how recruit works for them. Thanks for the tip anyways, can't wait for the next DLC.

Nvm succ is good and skeleton is poo because mana regen is necessary to actually play the game.

I have become wizened
Funny you'd say that, I've actually only beaten the game as a skeleton with the new races yet. Not needing to eat with hunger turned on is fantastic.

Conjured skeletons level up and keep their experience, you get two of them as well later on. On top of that you can consume your summons for mana.

On top of that, my second win on skeleton was a melee arcanist. I literally just wanted to see the self revive and ended out having a deathless win.

Succubus seems to be the worst new race in my opinion though. Little bonuses to counter their weaknesses. If there was just a touch more in terms of changes, I think they'd be 100% complete in my eyes. Like maybe auto casting teleport at fatal health. It just feels too same-y other than humans are out to get you.

I mean solo is a different beast, and skeletons infinite lategame pacing possibility make it "objectively" the best for solo.

But that's an unrealistic standard.

Every other mage class can burn excess mana to level up their casting.

Every other mage class can use spells casually to kill every single enemy on every floor.

With the succubus this goes even farther for because the reward is the charm spell and she can use every book without risking forgetting a spell. But regardless, humans have it even easier in a typical scenario because they can use shops easily and get like 15 human followers per game.

Every alternate race suffers this problem. Outside of waiting until the usefulness kicks in as the skelly, every monster is strictly worse than every human class choice, even into the lategame. The special powers they get are get are gimmicks at best, and not a single one is worth picking for raw efficacy.

Regardless, obviously skeleton conjuror offers consistency, but every other class is capable of using spells to attack and heal. Making the conjuror class the only truly fitting "caster" class they can have.

Any other choice is you just being silly and giving yourself the "wait it out" option, which although feasible is strictly worse considering food isn't an issue for most classes.

(Ghoul immunity in the mansion is p tight tho fam)
