Extend each map type?
Ignore my playtime, ive played this game quite a bit through piracy as my friends refused to buy it (sorry guys, mp piracy is possible). I left the game in my wishlist and planned to pick it up on sale or under a big update.

Anyway i have the game now, and wanted to share a problem ive had with it. Keep in mind ive beat the final boss. The issue with this game is the length of transition between each map type. I never really get a "feel" of the map when it changes every 3 floors. Its just like "oh already on the pyramid style" etc. I find it impossible to appreciate the floor types. I should be hating them, play it enough to hate its guts. Make each new map type rewarding like "finally ive reached the pyramid!" I cant get any sense of that at all..

Also another issue ive found with the game is that from about halfway through til the end, i picked up about only 3 new items. Basically i was near enough fully equiped halfway through. I spent so much time searching every corner for loot, and always found basically nothing of greater value. I didn't give up, i continued to search every floor til the end. Even the secret areas such as this gnome level or the portal behind this floor of lava and blocks where i used floating boots and pickaxe. Its very unrewarding and demotivating.

Good news - you can edit the levels.txt files to change the order/increase the number of maps you go through. Just add newlines and insert map: ___ or gen: ___ and the levels will load in the order shown. (map: is a fixed structure, like the midway swamp/maze map, the gen: will include random world gen.)

Obviously might be a balance issue as the enemies won't be getting stronger but it's doable. Some things in the game are hardcoded and might act weirdly (or no random events at all) past level 20/25

Levels.txt is found in barony/maps folder. You will also need to change the secretlevels.txt file to include more destinations likewise, I haven't figured out what happens if you try to go to a secret level with no destination in the file, may crash.

Thanks for the info. But what ive gathered from this is that you can add more of the earlier levels but creates issues in the later levels. Have i understood this correctly? Also will changes to the text files effect mp?

i think you can add anywhere but past level 20/25 total of all maps you get a weird acting game ?

you just have to share your levels.txt between everyone you're playing with and it will be fine.

I just tested myself, randomly jumped between all the level types in my list and saw mob spawns and traps until level 41 (and saw the final level), even when going from labyrinth to mines. So it looks like it might be okay. Didn't test secret levels, feel free to have a go yourself.

EDIT - Mob spawns are not connected to the level number, only the map type. (Spiders/trolls > level 2).

Secret levels are tied to the level number so they will probably break, and arrow traps need to be above level 5. So you can see arrow traps on mines potentially if you play it for 10 levels.
