[SOLVED] Launch Issue: Game stuck in "Loading Game Configuration"
Check Solution in Comments

Description:

I purchased the game through Steam, and after clicking the play icon, it installed the Ubisoft Connect app and launched the game. I can get past the splash screen and the intro credits, but when it prompts me to connect to Ubisoft servers, it gets stuck on "Loading game configuration" for an extended period.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Reinstalled Steam and the game itself.
  • Reset Windows Firewall.
  • Cleared the Ubisoft Connect cache.
  • Launched the game from the shortcut while offline.
  • Launched the game directly from Ubisoft Connect.
  • Checked for linked accounts in the Ubisoft Connect (Beta) app. While it shows in Settings > Other > Linked Accounts, I am unable to find that entry in my profile. I verified my linking through my browser, and it's confirmed as positive.

I’ve also raised a ticket about the same issue through Ubisoft customer support (Case #21922883), but I am not receiving a response.

I’ve noticed that this issue has been brought up in previous discussions, but no proper solutions have been provided to date. Here are two links to those discussions:

I would appreciate any guidance on how to navigate this problem. Thank you!

P.S: Even though I haven't been able to play, my playtime on Steam and Ubisoft Connect is 61 minutes and 23 minutes respectively and now I'm halfway ineligible for a refund without even getting to experience the game.

Solution:
Inspired by this discussion.

TL;DR: Start the game via Steam with the Ubisoft Connect Beta Launcher set to offline mode.

Detailed Guide:

UC = Ubisoft Connect

Please ensure you have completed the following steps below:
  1. Install the game.
  2. Click on the play icon post-installation to download the UC app and launch it.
  3. Install the standalone version of UC if the Steam version of UC is not up to date.
  4. Enter your credentials, sign up/login, and link your Steam account to your Ubisoft account.
  5. Verify that your game is displayed in your UC library.

If you are still unable to proceed to the main menu, please follow these additional steps:
  1. Navigate to the user AppData folder:
    - Option A: Open Run (Ctrl + R), type `%localappdata%`, and click on the Ubisoft Game Launcher folder.
    - Option B: Open File Explorer and enter `C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Ubisoft Game Launcher`.
  2. Open settings.yaml with Notepad and search for the offline flag. Change it from `false` to `true` and save the changes.

Now launch the game from Steam again. You should now be able to access the menu with a prompt indicating you are not connected to Ubisoft servers.
