Primal would be incredible with a weapon looting system..
Imagin instead of only crafting weapons, if you could take unique weapons off of enemies, or find them in all of those visually stunning, but otherwise useless locations..
I can't explain how dissapointing it was for me, to explore every cave and outpost, tomb, or otherwise.. Only to find a rock with a hand on it. Or a painting. Or, my favorite..... ..... a bag of skins/leafs - the fact that my pack was already full of said items around 90% of the time.. >.> Lack of excitement, is an understatement.
Everything felt so generic in the game, as far as exploring went. There was never any real rewards for clearing caves. Besides XP, or maybe a rare skin the odd time..
They really forfeit some major potential on that end, if my opinion matters.
Game would have been absolutely incredible if there was an arpg styled Looting system involved.. Replay value would triple. At least for me.
Edit : Well it turns out there are mods for far cry games but they sure aren't popular to catch any attention
You could find rare skins in caves. Also, the main point of the caves are the rock and painting collectables, they give experience.
