umm Windows 7 service pack 1 came out over 5 yrs ago .. so yes i'd think it's required ..since it has been available via windows update since 2011

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) was announced on March 18, 2010. A beta was released on July 12, 2010. The final version was released to the public on February 22, 2011

You can try installing these:

· Windows 7 Service Pack 1: Can be manually downloaded from: https://www.microsoft.com/pt-pt/download/details.aspx?id=5842 select your language and download the file "windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe" (903.02 MB).

· Nvidia driver 362.00: Can be manually downloaded from: http://www.nvidia.com/download/find.aspx

You should also verify your game cache and make sure that there is no antivirus/firewall or 3rd party program blocking the game.

That doesn't mean it should be required. Most modern games can be played just fine without having Windows 7 SP1 installed. And also there's no error message or anything if you don't have it installed, the game just doesn't load and you have to figure out why this game doesn't load when you can play The Witcher 3, GTA V or Rise of the Tomb Raider without problems.

go look for your self

the last 3 FarCry games need SP1 intalled if you used windows 7

see FarCry 3
https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/FAQ/9/2590/system-requirements-for-far-cry-3/kA030000000eTK5CAM

VERY IMPORTANT! Ensure that Windows® XP has Service Pack 3 (or better) or that Windows Vista® has Service Pack 2 (or better) or that Windows® 7 has Service Pack 1 (or better).

see blood dragon

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows® XP (with SP3) or Windows Vista® (with SP2), Windows® 7 (with SP1) or Windows® 8

see FarCry 4
https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/FAQ/9/4277/system-requirements-for-far-cry-4/kA030000000eibQCAQ
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

SUPPORTED OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 (64 bit versions only).

so if the last 3 games needed it for the updated .net framework thats included in SP1 why would this game be different ?.. it uses the same engine

also if you have windows 7 installed and your not running SP1 you may have an open security risk ..as SP 1 addressed many security problems as well as added better support for HDMI
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/whats-included-in-windows-7-service-pack-1-sp1

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an important update that includes previously released security, performance, and stability updates for Windows 7. SP1 also includes new improvements to features and services in Windows 7, such as improved reliability when connecting to HDMI audio devices, printing using the XPS Viewer, and restoring previous folders in Windows Explorer after restarting.

plus you yourself posted you had a problem getting the game to load until you had to install SP1 in another thread

Then I'm not sure why I could play Far Cry 3 (as well as other people could play Far Cry 4) but we couldn't play Far Cry Primal until we installed both Windows 7 SP1 and Nvidia driver 362.00. It's weird...

again if you do not have SP1 installed you musta deactivated windows update
it installs normally via windows update on every machine i install any version of windows 7 on , unless the windows 7 DVD i use to install the operating system already has the build with SP1 included (yes i do pc repair for a living)

Microsoft released SP1 5 years ago for a reason .. the operating system needed the service pak ..they do not just make them for no reason

and if your not running with SP1 you are behind in updates and possibly at risk ..and honesly i don't understand why anyone would still use Win 7 without it.. as it did have many fixes included in the service pak for things that are used in games like .net framework and visual C++ and even Direct X files i see get updated during the installation process of SP1 as well as many other Windows system files

i do not know why they did not specify SP1 in the system requirements for Primal but many other games and windows applications also DO require SP1 including some Drivers

see also this article is from 2013 .....

http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/windows-7-service-pack-1/

As Microsoft winds down free support for Windows 7, it’s pushing out one of its only service packs (SP1) to users who have yet to install it. Unless you have SP1 on your computer by April 9, Microsoft will stop supporting your computer with future security and performance fixes, so it’s imperative that you take the time to get this service pack.

anyone with a bit of common sense would update everything on a PC, & windows will not update all your system drivers
frostie Mar 30, 2016 @ 11:02am
and upgrade to windows 10 while it is free
