Far Cry Primal - Patch 1.3.0 Notes (Introducing Survivor Mode!)

We’re happy to announce the release of the new Patch 3 available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It is available for free on April 12, 2016 and includes the below changes.

Patch 3 download size:
- PC (1.1 GB)
- PS4 (849 MB)
- Xbox One (817 MB)

A second PC-specific free update, the Ultra-HD Texture pack, can be downloaded separately. It adds high-quality textures to the PC version of the game.

Patch Notes – Patch 3

1. NEW – Survivor Mode
  • Available in New Gameplay Options when starting a New Game

b. NEW – Stamina Bar added
  • Stamina depletes slowly during gameplay
  • Stamina depletes faster when walking/running/being in combat
  • Fast travel consumes stamina
  • Stamina can be regenerated by sleeping and eating food
  • Manual heal and fast travel costs stamina
  • Low stamina slows down movement and health regen. At 0 stamina, manual heal and fast travel are disabled.

c. Tamed Beasts
  1. NEW – Permadeath for Tamed Beasts
    • If a Beast dies, the player must find and tame a new one
    • This also applies to Legendary Beasts, they can never be found again if they die
    • Skinning a Beast after they die gives you a skin
  2. NEW – Beast riding fatigue introduced – After some time of continuous riding, mounted Beast will start taking damage
  3. In order to activate the taming option for Sabretooth Tigers, Brown Bears and Cave Bears, you must first inflict them serious damage
  4. Non-legendary tamed Beasts health has been reduced
  5. Owl attacks and bomb drops have been disabled

d. World/Resources
  • Less natural resources are available in the world and less are looted when gathering
  • Less daily resources added to the Reward Stash from Wenja population level
  • Resources in the Reward Stash can only be withdrawn at the Village Stash
  • Night lasts longer and is darker
  • Campfire Fast Travel points are no longer unlocked by default when claiming a bonfire

  • XP Curve has been adjusted to be more progressive
  • Certain “over-powered” skills have been removed:
  1. Player skills:
    • Extra Health II
    • Primitive Heal II
    • Extra Health IV
  2. Gatherer skills:
    • Show Plants
    • Show Resources
    • Beast Reviving
  3. Hunter skills:
    • Craft Arrows III
  4. Shaman skills:
    • Owl – Weapon drop
    • Owl – Attack I
    • Owl – Attack II
    • Owl – Cooldown I
    • Owl – Cooldown II
  • Effects of other skills have been re-balanced
  • Skill points cost has been rebalanced
  1. Player skills:
    • Primitive Heal I: 2 points instead of 1
    • Extra Health I: 3 points instead of 1
  2. Gatherer skills:
    • Skinning II: 3 points instead of 2
    • Find Resources I: 3 points instead of 1
    • Skinning I: 3 points instead of 2
    • Find Rare Plants: 3 points instead of 2
    • Find Resources II: 4 points instead of 2
    • Find Rare Resources: 3 points instead of 2
  3. Crafter Skills:
    • Double Clubs: 3 points instead of 2
    • Double Spears: 4 points instead of 3
    • Double Traps: 3 points instead of 2
    • Double Sting Bombs: 4 points instead of 2
    • Double Bait: 2 points instead of 1
  4. Hunter skills:
    • Craft Arrows I: 3 points instead of 1
    • Craft Arrows II: 5 points instead of 2
    • Tag Enemies: 2 points instead of 1
  5. Shaman skills:
    • Tame Wildcats: 2 points instead of 1
    • Tame Apex Predators: 3 points instead of 2
    • Tame Cunning Beasts: 4 points instead of 3
  6. Warrior skills:
    • Heavy Takedown: 4 points instead of 3
    • Extra Health III: 6 points instead of 4

f. Gameplay
  • Bow tension added requiring players to pull back the arrow all the way to get maximum impact
  • Weapon durability has been tweaked to be more realistic when thrown weapons hit hard or soft surfaces
  • Weapons are consumed more quickly by fire
  • The slow-motion time effect doesn’t slow time as much anymore, when in the Weapon Wheel, Food Grid and Beast Grid
  • Crafting ammo in the Weapon Wheel now requires a hold to craft
  • Most bag capacity has been reduced
  • Player’s health regen speed has been reduced
  • Some healing recipes now require red leaves in addition to green leaves
  • Cold depletion rate has been increased
  • Fully upgraded Winter Clothes no longer offer total protection from the cold
  • Weapons on fire will extinguish when swapping between weapons (Expert difficulty only)
  • Fast Travel now costs Stamina and Meat, proportionally to distance
  • Mini-map has been removed
  • Shaders on tagged enemies have been removed, making them more difficult to spot
  • Several UI options have been set to off by default to increase immersion (but can be re-enabled)
  • Hunter Vision duration has been set to 20s by default (duration can now be modified in the settings)
  • Fog of war reveal radius has been reduced
  • Can only Save & Quit when not in Combat
  • Game difficulty cannot be changed once started in Survivor Mode with Permadeath
  • Requirements for rare animal skins have been reduced when upgrading huts
  • Reduced health for Legendary Beasts, Batari and Ull

g. AI/Wildlife
  • Enemies are more reactive and aggressive in combat
  • Wildlife detects you more easily
  • Blood trails from wounded animals are harder to track
  • Reduced overall animal density during the day, and increased density of predators at night
  • Reduced human density and frequency of Wenja events
  • Wenja fighters are less resilient
  • Predators no longer show up in Hunter Vision unless they are aggressive toward the player, dead or a Tamed Beast

2. NEW – Permadeath
  • Available in New Gameplay Options when starting a New Game with Survivor Mode turned On
  • Three Options Available – Off, On, Second Chance
    1. Off – You respawn when you die
    2. On – The game is over when you die
    3. Second Chance – You only respawn if you completed enough of the game since your last death (every 3% as depicted in the player’s overall progress)
  • Failing during Tensay’s Vision missions does not count as dying (You’re dreaming after all)

3. Stability and Performance
  • a. Fixed an issue where player could lose their inventory when swapping weapons in specific conditions
  • b. Fixed some specific, low occurrence crashes

4. Gameplay
  • New Option in Gameplay Menu – Hunter Vision Duration – Can toggle the duration of Hunter Vision (Default/20s/30s/Infinite)
  • New Option in the Interface Menu – Hide the bow reticle unless you are aiming or holding the bow ready
  • Fixed melee damage resistance skill also affecting ranged damage
  • Increased critical health in hard/expert difficulty modes

5. Lighting and FX
  • Fixed a lighting issue on bodies of water that would cause color to briefly change when exiting caves
  • Minor fixes to clipping issues

6. Wildlife and AI
  • Various bug fixes

7. Missions/Activities/World
  • Fixed a grapple location north of Tushwarha Outpost that would cause the player to fall to his death when trying to climb down
  • Fixed an issue where players could exit the map in the mission – Vision of Ice
  • Fixed an issue where players could exit the map in Shayu’s Cave
  • Fixed a couple issues where players could get stuck in the Dangu Cave
  • Fixed an issue where players could get stuck in an infinite death loop after completing the mission – Into Udam Land
  • Fixed some resources that would cause the player to become stuck in the map when gathering them
  • Fixed an issue where Bite Fish weren’t spawning in certain locations on the map
  • Fixed an issue where player could get stuck in the falling obelisk outside of the Batari’s Temple in the Izila Homeland

8. Menu/UI/Map
  • Fixed an issue that would cause one of the life bars to flicker in specific conditions
  • Fixed an issue where a “Location Discovered” prompt would remain on screen during cut-scenes in specific situations
  • Fixed an issue where some icons remained on screen when using the “Turn All Off” option in the Interface menu

9. NEW – 4x Achievements and Ubisoft Club badges
  • Achievement #1: TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN
    • Finish the game in the Survivor mode (Any difficulty).
  • Achievement #2: TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN (2ND CHANCE)
    • Finish the game in the Survivor mode (Any difficulty) and the Second chance option activated.
  • Achievement #3: TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN (PERMADEATH)
    • Finish the game in the Survivor mode (Any difficulty) and the Permadeath option activated.
  • Achievement #4: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST
    • Finish the game in Survivor mode (Expert difficulty) and the Permadeath option activated... Forget it… No-one will ever achieve it.

10. NEW – PC fixes and support for Ultra-HD Texture Pack
  • NEW – Support for ultra-HD texture pack (Note: PC Patch 3 does not include the texture pack. It can be downloaded separately for free on Steam or Uplay.)
  • PC-specific fixes:
    • Add option to turn off mouse deadzones
    • Interface and input tweaks
    • Various minor bug fixes

This update is amazing, thank you. I'm on a new playthrough and I'm loving survivor mode. The immersiveness has gone leaps and bounds from the vanilla game.

I was eagerly awaiting the mouse deadzone fix, if you all know what I'm talking about, it was hell trying to aim headshots when your aiming reticle would lag as you moved it around your target. Now it's normal.

The texture upgrade is the icing on the cake. Great job ubi
I have a Titan Black and on Ultra Settings I'm getting 50's on avg to lowest about 34. Please do the Following FC development team in the next patch/patches in Normal game mode, not just Survival:

1, Also, can the developers do one thing with animals in the water, aka the Fish and the Crocs. This is the Stone Age, so anytime you are in the water, Wildlife in the Water should come after like how in Far Cry 3, everytime I got in the water i had to worry about a shark comin, which made it a lot more realistic and exciting where I knew if I got in the water I'd have to get out of the water ASAP because predators would come around to get me. I was 10 ft away from a croc in the water, and the croc was just floating there....

2. In addition, can you also fix in the next patch animal behavior in the sense that whenever your beast is less than 100% health, and you kill an animal, then the beast will eat that animal to replenish health to 100%, this is not just to NOT waste meat, but it's just some thing that would make common sense.

3. Please do a graphics update patch so ppl can run the higher Video settings with at least some decency....

4, Add A Co-op Mode like Dying Light/Borderlands/Borderlands 2 with VoIP/Mic play-ability. Nothing like playing in this time with friends and doing quests together.

5. Add a FPS lock in the Video Menu for lower end systems say 30/60/120 to maximize graphics quality on every graphics quality setting.

I just got back into the game after a bit off the radar and started a new survivor game but when i went back to my old save it was in survivor mosde and i do not want it to be. i just want to finish the story first before going hardcore on the game. is there a way to fix that at all? it's a bit irritating.
Bug: even when the reticle setting is turned to immersive bow reticle, after using the owl and moving the owl downwards, the bow and arrow crosshair reticle returns spoiling the immersion.

wow Way to step it up UBI i was really turned off by the way this game was so easy and little things like when my beast died i just re call it, the ammount of map i was uncovering when i was exploring was way to big, night was waaaaay to short, caves were far to light, i never thought to post anywhere to "complain" i guess beacuse im not that way but this patch just revived PRIMAL for me, i really liked it and wanted to get into it but couldent before, but you basically just read my mind and then made primal excatly what i was hoping for and wanted for in this title!!! Damn fine job guys keep up the AMAZING work. i know alot of gamers can be.....well harsh, but you guys deserve a damn medal and a pat on the back for this one THANK YOU ALL FOR THE AWESOME GAME!! and HD textures to boot.....dammmmmn its like christmas in oros came early ;)

Are the HD textures affecting the FPS rates or only the VRAM?
Is 3,5/4GB with a GTX 970 enough for HD textures?
Hmmm, I don't see anything about the mouse issue on here, what a let down. I'll just have to try and see if it changed.

Edit: Wait no... it's there, I'm dumb a little blind I guess.

Sorry to say this but the Quality is not much better what I and others expect from 4k Texture that are 4096x4096 big and very sharp with more detail. Looking to the comparison from the press it looks like the Texture get only a simple sharp effect and the blur was remove from the Texture nothing more.

No more details or similar advantage from real 4k Texture. The difference is that small that I can call it a PR-stunt. Now I understand why I not see the difference because it is that small that I need a loupe to see it.

Ubisoft first this patch replace not all Texture from the Game because the patch needed to be 6,6 GB big to replace all Texture from the Game. Next the Quality from the Texture is not better still ugly and increase the VRAM Usage from the Graphic Card for nothing....

The UltraHD Texture or HD Texture whatever is a joke!

If I compare the HD Texture update what Shadows of Mordor get. There is a clearly visible difference and graphic improvement to see between Normal Texture and the HD Texture update.

We talk here about HD Texture that are 2048x2048 big and you Ubisoft said we get Ultra HD Texture (4k Texture 4096x4096). That are twice that big what Shadows of Mordor get to improve the Texture Quality and the Graphic.

Ubisoft if you released real Ultra HD Texture but you did not. Thats why the difference and improvement from the Texture Quality and Graphic is not twice that much how Shadows of Mordors looks with his HD Texture Update.

You removed the Gameworks effects from Nvidia that made Far Cry 4 to look much better. The effects that could made Far Cry Primal to look much better.

Okay, how about fixing the issue with the HD Textures download? Help please. Download refuses to start in Steam.
I just got back in town and have updated the game and am now, adding the HD pack, however, it's only showing me 2.9GB instead of the 3.5GB that's posted. Am I missing something here?

No problem with finding it. I just checked the install box on my game page of the game. That's the box that list all the DLC you own if, you didn't already know that.

Yeah, I know, but for whatever reason it's not working for me. I checked the Install box, tried forcing the download from Downloads page, etc...no dice.

HD textures are a joke. you can't see the difference without a really hard focus.

EVERYONE, look at skyrim mods for REAL 4k textures without a giant increase in VRAM, and you will see how ubisoft trolled PC gamers again.

My god, it's like instead of redoing the textures for Ultra HD they just opened up Photoshop and used the sharpen filter on the textures. :steamfacepalm:

Same story with Rainbow Six Siege Ultra HD Texture update.......

The only Game where a HD Texture patch really increased the Graphic and Texture Quality is Shadows of Mordor. Skyrim only with Mods.

Not only Ubisoft troll with Ultra HD Texture or HD Texture packs..... There are a lot more that do this.
