i use an Asus GTX 960 and i can set the vid settings to Ultra right in the menu and it works
but i do have a 1080 P monitor and i'm running FarCry Primal @ 1920 X 1080
and no there are no other settings offered via the menu for ambient occlusion
this game does not have the Nvidia gameworks features they included in Far Cry 4
Since you also have a 960 i don't understand this problem at all :(
Even turning the overall graphicall quality to ultra or very high doesnt make the textures (or other settings that can't past very high or high) change.
Now that i think of it, the options for the textures are "normal" and "high" low isn't there either......
thats the only driver ASUS has posted for my card in Win 10
the Nvidia drivers that Nvidia released i had nothing but problems with since i upgraded to win 10
so i'm sticking with the Drivers from ASUS that are made for my card
and USE DDU to wipe your old ones first >?
or did you update them with that crappy geforce EXP bloatware ?
i'll go look again ..
EDIT
your right ultra results in textures = high
dont matter to me the game looks good to me and with razer cortex installed i'm getting decent FPS for a GTX 960 2 gig card
yeah i used ddu and did a clean install :); although i'm still on the fallout 4 drivers (358.something).
I have never encountered this kind on problem on other games :(
i'm on windows 7
http://www.razerzone.com/cortex
its free and works on all vid cards .. even helped on my old Dell POS system from 2006
that runs primal at 50 FPS (as high fps) with textures set to normal with an 1 gig HD 5770 card and win 7
@ 1440 X 900
wait, you also cannot select higher than high texture right?
ugh, so it means it's the game that do it? :((
this is what my options look like : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=656232006
fps are great that's why i would hope to see if i can turn some settings up like the textures :)
I guess 2gig cards are getting more rare or people didnt notice??
kinda sucks they limited the AA and AO options tho in the game
i would have gladly paid 20 bucks for 2 more gig of v ram
but so far my strix has not let me down
by the way i'm trying to see if really, very high or ultra textures exists in the game or not...
because i see people talking about the ultra or very high preset but not about the textures in particular..
Could it be that the max is high? Can someone tell me if he can put specifically textures at very high or ultra?

looks like thats all thats offered from the screen shots there
There are global presets you can set: "Ultra," "Very High," "High," "Normal," and "Low." You can manually adjust each setting as well, there are texture settings, shadow, post fx, geometry, terrain, water, environment, volumetric fog, motion blur and AA. None of these settings have any hidden settings, when you set the global option to "Ultra" you are getting the highest possible in-game settings.
