Sabretooth Taming in Survivor Expert

Im attempting to tame a sabretooth in survivor mode, but I need to weaken it first. How much do I need to weaken it and how should I go about it? I tried using a bow but it just runs then ambushes me.

I just tamed a Sabretooth... There is a mission given at wenja camp that leads to hunt a sabretooth.

You will get into a camp and in the minimap you will see icons to set traps.

At night you must lure the sabretooth to those traps to weaken it (a health bar appears) until you beat it (take sabretooth health to 0).

And then it wil appear on screen that you can tame it as any other creature by holding E.

Thats on survival mode following a mission... but as you already stated: just beat it with a mammoth lol

There's a proven method for taming Sabertooth. it also works with bears . All you need are Spears ( preferably 3+ ) and many Baits. First drop a bait as soon as possible. Carefully throw a headshot spear while it's eating and be like 15 meters away at least, Immediatly use another bait after your thrown spear. Repeat that a few times depending on spear upgrade level. It may look simple but with this speedy Tiger you're not allowed for mistakes and you should plan

I often play in survivor expert permadeath and it's a lot of fun to unlock sabertooth early in the game

My one that got beat with a mammoth died and I just used a fire club to tame the next one.. if they are set on fire they play a looping animation which prevents them from running or attacking. just hit them with the flaming club a lot then stop and throw bait when they run. Bam, tamed. you will prob get bitten once though so be prepared.
