Survival mode or nah?
I'm a little late to the party, but I'm gonna play this game for the first time soon.

I really want to feel immersed, which is why I want to play on the survival mode but I'm worried about the "decreased world concentration" and the fact that you could "light a bonfire with nobody to kill you" as ubisoft showed in their video.

Do these factors hurt the game's fun in any way?

From what I can tell it makes the game more realistic and less arcade-y. I recommend. Less OP skills can be unlocked and you die easier. Animal and enemy concentrations feel realistic, not sparse. Still plenty of danger to be had. I recommend second chance mode for increased tension but still some room for error.

I was curious about this as well. I am really tempted to restart the game in Survivor Mode. The enemies in the regular mode seem like they're spaced about 17ft apart on average.. I was playing in one area last night, and with hunter vision, there was more yellow than black for about a 100ft in every direction.

What about progression though? As it is, it seems like I'm leveling up skills and crafting abilities fairly quickly, slightly too quickly, but I don't want it to take hours either just to get all the materials I need to upgrade a pouch's carrying capacity. If enemies are more more spread out, seems like it would increase the grind 10-fold maybe.

@EbonHawk after hearing what I heard, I'm willing to play survivor on my first playthrough because I want to feel like the game is my life. I'll take my time and so I won't mind a grind that feels relatively realistic. It depends how you want to play it, but if you want the game to "replace your life" while you play it, and you're patient enough to take your time, survivor mode is probably good.
Then again, all I'm saying might be fake, coz I still didn't play the game

Well, it would be no trouble for me to start another playthrough and keep a separate manual backup of my current progress. Then I could switch and try Survivor Mode, then change back if I like. I've been keeping manual backups of all my save games, so I am prepared.

Survivor Mode sounds like a dream come true.

Holy Toledo! FC Primal in Survivor Mode is sooo good. The resource collecting isn't a grind at all, and there's definitely more of a connection with the character and having to pay attention to what is going on around you and planning your strategy a little more. Resources are definitely scarcer, but so are enemies, even at night. It's not a constant barrage of things trying to kill you, and when they do attack, it means so much more than the thousandth one in the last hour that has jumped you.

The main thing I was worried about was having to constantly recharge stamina, but it drains fairly slowly, and is replenishable easily enough with meat or herbs. I can hunt and gather for a bit, then go do a mission or two, then grab what I need, and continue.

Nice job, Ubi, in making an add-on mode actually work and mean something.

Once you try it you wont want go back to Normal mode ever again. ^^

And dont worry about the reduced world concentrationt there are still a lot of enemy patrols and animal attacks to keep you on your toes.

Especially at night it gets dangerous with predators lurking at every corner (mostly wolves)

I ain't afraid of no wolves. A burning bone club to the face usually takes care of those guys.

Which reminds me of a situation i was going with a torch cause i was sick of wolves harrassing me got attacked by pack of wolves one bit me in the foot before i could smack it with a flaming club leaving me with really low health. I healed up and moved on as the wolves ran away.

Shortly they were back to harass me once more while i was fighting them off Izila patrol saw that and joined to bully me too.

While i was fighting wolves and Izila a Sabertooth came out of nowhere and mauled me to death.

Nights on Survivor Expert in a nutshell xD

Ahh good. Don't have to check it then. Not looking for that kind of challenge. Survivor is plenty for me.

My Survivor mode was OFF. Thought it was on. Anyhow I want entertainment, not frustration. Maybe when I finish, then play a second time, I will try a higher difficulty level. I saw the settings explanation & online articles but either it's not explained well or I'm just dumb. How does Survivor mode differ?

I'm currently completing Permadeath + Survival + Expert mode again for the 2nd time.

I love it ^ Definitely changes the way you go through the game, since one mistake can often cost you. Very satisfying to get through it with just one life.

Did you ever MASH? If yes how many times did you experience mashing?

Hi. I was playing FC Primal and because of the game crushed, I've lost my savegame even though I saved the game -actually the game, not my progress unfortunatelly-. I started looking for savegames but there is no shared saves on survivor mode nor expert/hard difficulty. I'd be truly grateful if you could share your saves around %35-40 done. Please don't let me down, this is the 3. time I go through this and I don't want to start over again.
