Weapons and ammo?
Considering I have played and loved FC, FC2, FC3 and FC4 mostly for the weapons, what can I expect from this game since there are no "guns".

Mind you, I typically play stealth in all the other variants but the thing that has delayed me purchasing this was for the lack of weaponry as I can't expect sniper rifles, silencers and grenade launchers.

Thanks!

All weapons are primative, sorry. This is not CoD or, BF.

True, no firearms at 10.000 BCE, but you get alot nice options insted, Bow, Longbow and Doublebow, Maces and Spears, Throwing Splinters, Traps and Decoys, which make being stealthy a valid approach... consider Takedowns on unaware enemys, and stealthy attacks with your trained pets and you can see there is more than "Uga-Buga-Charge-the-enemy!" here

This is a lot more realistic and unforgiving than other Far Cry games. I hate how in previous titles you can carry an RPG, a medium machine gun, a .50 sniper rifle and an assault rifle with 12 grenades, 10 rockets, 40 magazines, some molotovs, claymore mines and a machete. Enough gear to break the backs of 7 camels. Still it can be pretty dumbed down without survivor mode enabled...

Did I insinuate that it was? I was asking what options there were to diversify the weapon and ammo load-out as has been part of FC franchise since FC1.

Didn't need to be a d o u c h e

Yeah, I could see your POV about that, but I personally loved the arcadish style of that exact loadout. FC4 taking out armored convoys with RPG+GL+sidearm-GL+LMG is a force to be reckoned with :)

Thank you for this. I might buy it and play once I get FC4 out of the way. Currently 38hrs in and still haven't gone to the northern part of the map. I sat down and looked at a couple gameplay videos and thought taking over animals was kind of neat.

First of all, previously noted longbow has pretty long range and accuracy and also significant sights magnification, so it handles pretty much like a sniper rifle.
Also, you can send your pets to attack enemies from a distance. You have wide range of tamed animals – jaguar is really stealthy, sabretooth is fast and deadly, cave bear is even deadlier and can absorb a lot of damage.
Also, you have an owl that you use in some sort of warg mode (you see through its eyes and have full control over it while hiding in a distance). You can send your pets through owl, you can make your owl to kill enemies from above and drop bombs on them (last 2 options are disabled in survival mode).

Check this guide out to see all weapons you have in the game:

Very cool stuff.

I like that they took a mechanic out (weapons, scopes, etc) but added functionality to replace it and make it fun and interesting.

I will definitely be keeping it on my wishlist.

if you enjoy stealth, this is definitly a game you should get. charging in head-first is usually suicide.

the weapons are still deadly enough, especially once fully upgraded. a thrown spear can usually one-shot most enemies and all but the largest animals. also there are three types of "grenades" that didn't get mentioned: bees, gas and fire.

as an aside, i'd suggest playing in survival mode, with permadeath off, just to get the maximum immersion (unless you like starting over from the beginning).
