Bread Crumbs?

The help screen and the manual lists Bread Crumbs as one of the healing items. Are these actually placed anywhere? I can't recall seeing them even once, even after 100%'ing the game.

Been awhile so my memory is a little fuzzy: The bread sprite was the quiz pickup in the SNES version and replaced with the more obvious quiz question sprite in the DOS version of the game. The bread sprite is still in the game files and can be used by mods.

But looking in the manual, bread crumbs and quizzes serve different purposes.
Bread crumbs give 4 health, and so do quizzes, but quizzes also give a bunch of other stuff if you get the question right.
