Did anyone here play the old game "Interstate '76"?
I loved it. And I've never found a game that has come close to it since. To the point where I keep an old laptop with win95/DOS to run it. (There's no DOSbox for it).
I'm looking forward to perhaps getting some similar mechanics from this Dark Future. Here's hoping!
Here's the Wiki[en.wikipedia.org] page for those that don't know it.

I realise the Dark Future game will be stop-time / tactical. Still ....CARS WITH GUNZ!

I loved '76. The story and music were fun(it kinda reminded me of starsky & hutch) and it was nice shooting my pistol out the side window and getting a lucky hit on an enemy driver. The sequel set in the 80's was boring.
I would love to see a df/car wars/autoduel(there was ad for the commodore-64 but it was meh.) rpg game where you could drive accross country with side missions to add to the main story line. road gangs with bikes ectc. 18-wheeler convoys your hired out with others to protect or attack(eventually you could buy a type of cargo vehicle including your own semi and do cargo runs or trading for cash yourself). Hire mercs or get friends to fight with you. Some mercs have their own vehicles and some dont. friends/partners would join for free permanently. You can hire high levels to help command the others or that have special abilities. Truck stops to get jobs and cars/repairs. also have light aircraft(short range/rare) like the heli in road warrior. make the cars detailed and very customizable. Also you move around in first person and have rpg stats for when your in/out of your car. Gameplay is real time until you enter combat and it goes to turn based or a combination perhaps-real time with pause maybe. Different high level factions you may get in with by doing jobs for them. Your own bases with garages, cafeteria, beds, defences, training, storage ectc that you could build/buy. Of course lots of cars with guns:) So much more.
Do I want more than we will ever get? Yes, probably...lol. Hope this one is fun at least. I wish for a succesfull release. It looks good so far.

I loved I76....you can get it on GOG, but it needs some "adjustments" to run on modern gear and I've had trouble doing that so far.

I have the Dark Future tabletop game and am [still] avidly awaiting this game's release.

I never got to play Interstate '76, but I remember the old Autoduel game and have been hoping a game in the vein of "Car Wars" would get made with modern graphics. Especially now that "Road of Rust and Dust" seems to be put on hiatus and is not going to be released until "a few years from now" (if ever), help us Dark Future, you're our only hope!

I did plus I'86 and I've still got the Dark Future tabletop game in near pristine condition.

Interstate 76 is still my favorite game of all time. It's what got me into the gaming industry and there still has never been anything like it. I've been making a game in Unreal Engine 4 called, 'Interstate 66'. I'm currently getting close to release a new progress video. You can check out some teasers and the original progress video on the interstate 66 facebook page.

I've had a look Xetura, I'll be following your progress :snaggletooth:

You should check out a couple of games on steam if you like interstate 76. There's a new one "Grip" and another one called "Gas Guzzlers". They have enjoyable combat & racing, but neither of them have the scope of interstate 76. I'm hoping Dark Future has more of the RPG depth I'm missing in car combat games...

Awesome. I'm hoping to have a new video out in a month or so. I just want to make sure certain features are implemented first.

Gas Guzzlers is pretty good! It's mostly just racing, but it's done really well, I think. There is more of a deathmatch gamemode and I think capture the flag. All pretty fun. I'll have to checkout Grip.

Yep, RPG depth in car combat games is really what I want! Regardless, Dark Future looks awesome and reminds me of old-school tabletop type car combat games, but in videogame form. I'm pretty excited for it myself.

Thanks for kind words! Do make sure you've wish-listed it!

Sure thing! It's been on my wishlist for a while now. I can't wait!
