why is this in the warhammer franchise?

Hello! It's based on an older Games Workshop tabletop game, which is why it's in the Warhammer sale at the moment.

As for how connected to the wider Warhammer universe it is... well, feel free to make your own mind up, but 40K Theories has some interesting thoughts about it...
