Local multiplayer trouble...

such a riviting game, and I am stuck on the last achievement. "Play a game with friends" I go to the multiplayer tab, enter into play now. But how in the world do I get player 2 to select a character. i've pressed every button on the keyboard, and even entered in a gamepad to no avail.

It's not an save game issue, it's an save/load nothing issue. I tried it on 3 Systems with 2 different OS (Win7 and XP). On all Systems only the Unitysettings are saved. In game nothing, no Settings, no progress, nothing...

I did it successful with 2 xbox360 Controllers, that works and now I want all other achievements but not in one session :)

You should really try "x360ce". This helped me many times before I had a second Controller...

No work around that does not include purchasing another controller or downloading a 3rd party software

If anyone knows a LEGAL xD 3rd party software which makes it possible to get the achievement would be nice if you could post it here :)

Press B for back is there, why not Press A or X to start or something like that?

On a side note. Confirmed that duel USB controllers did allow for selecting characters and moving on with a split screen race.

So thanks to MisterXYZ, a solution to get the "I'ts better with friends" achievement : When you launch the game, there's a little window where you can choose resolution, etc. Click on "Input" and modify the control for Accelerate Player 1 to an unused key on the keyboard and you'll be able to select a player and vehicle for the second character.

The key configurations are stored in the registry under Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Scarab Entertainment

And it's a bummer that they bind funny.. playing on Parsec and folks are having trouble launching power-ups, or they're pressing keys that are launching my power-ups
