How difficult is this game
I am a total noob when it comes to this genre but really wanna get in to these games. Although new I am no stranger to strategy games and rts games. How deep is the learning curve and is it worth the time to put in to this game? How does this game compare to command ops 2 and ultimate general civil war?

P. S. I gave played Haha like civilization distant worlds along with many other steep learning curve games. So I am not afraid to learn hard games. Please let Know.

This game is nothing liks UG Civil War. Out of the two Gary Grigsby's games, War in the East and War in the West. War in the east is the easiest. It will take you hundreds of hours and even probably dozens more reading through the manual etc. It may seem daunting and boring, yet once you get the idea and understand how the basic game works, the rest will come with time. I recommend playing a little singleplayer and then go for multiplayer.

I learnt this going through the guide linked at the top of this forum. It took me about 1.30hrs to learn the basics.

I guess depends if you are a rapid learner or it takes your time.

You'll need patience, that's for sure, read the manuals, the non-official manuals, and spend time to check on your divisions, terrain, upgrades, etc.

I'm still learning too, just being playing for about a month. I think I've an idea of most of things. UI is straight forward but not very intuitive, I had ctrl-tab to check the manal several times, still do.

If you buy the game, I highly advise against trying any of the big scenarios (full war, 41-45 or stalingrad to berlin 42-45), the sheer complexity of the first day is quite overwhelming. Start playing the axis side with the sugested tutorial one, then with Road to Misnk, then Road to Leningrad and maybe continue with Operation Typhoon.

If you still feel insecure about it, try the AGEOD games or Unity of Command, that last one is very simplified and keeps things simply while introducing you into the hexagon war games.

The basics are not very hard to grasp. Most of the game is played by using left click to select and right click to move/attack. You can already start a full campaign game knowing just those 2 things. It's the rest that takes time to learn, and I suggest always playing with the manual open in another tab or besides you if you have the printed version.

But as someone said before me, if you haven't played other WW2 hex wargames before, I'd go for Unity of Command (And especially the Black Turn DLC) before trying this. It's very simple, fun and lets you get into the mentality of mobile warfare needed to win the war(Hopefully before Christmas!).
