Cheat Codes for SNES Version?

From what I've read, there needs to be a second controller plugged in in order to access any cheats in-game. However, since there doesn't seem to be a second controller input in the emulator, I wonder if there would be any way we would be able to use the cheats. I only really intend to use the Level Skip, as there are no passwords or save features in the SNES version, from what I can tell.
