Am I missing something in the scenarios?

Hi, I played one of the dwarven non-legacy scenarios...and it took around 3 minutes to complete. The map was big and I just had to move from point A to point B. What am I missing?

I think I know which scenario. There is one where you're moving dwarves from one point to another because "We need more land" or something. I think it's the second scenario, and you have to settle in the desert. You, the player, are warned about goblins infecting the swamps between here and there, but when I played there wasn't anything. For as cautious as I was moving, there was no one there to fight. Not a single hostile.

from when i use to play i remember the map being random generated and it was possible to move without getting into a fight with goblins or even making them go hostile but it was on the rarer side of the map spawns. given the issues ive returned to it wouldnt shock me if it was broken so free brutal win XD

edit: i just tried it and its hella broken XD
spawned me next to the end and walked through a goblin camp without them turning hostile.
