Templar Battleforce

Templar Battleforce

A modern day Laser Squad?
Not sure if anyone remembers this game from the Amiga days but I was wondering how similar it is? Imagine a top down only X-Com.

I haven't played Laser Squad, but the game does have a lot of XCom elements.

What type of aspects of a turn-based strategy game are you looking to enjoy? Build a squad, come to love your veterans, train and personalize each one.

Yeah! Laser Squad had all of those elements. Futuristic marine combat, a variety of weapons and enemies randomly placed on a map that were hidden from view. It was a turn based game much like X-Com.

BTW really looking forward to Star Traders 2. I helped with the Kickstarter campaign! :-)

@memnoch - we too are looking forward to ST2 in a big way! The first playable components are coming soon.

If you liked Laser Squad, then I think you'd enjoy Battleforce!

I remember Laser Squad, and I remember the multiplayer email thing, Laser Squad Nemesis.

This reminds me of that a bit from the screenshots and video... I'd actually forgotten the name, so now... gotta go see whatever happened to the Laser Squad Nemesis remake... ah, Julian Gollop is still thinking of doing it at some point, apparently.

In the meantime, on to getting this game and playing it (:

makes me feel old, had 'rebel star raiders' on the spectrum. Laser squad was a great game. Picked this game up after watching a playthrough on youtube, really enjoying it. Good work :)

There is a modern remake of Laser Squad called Stellar Forces which is entirely free to play. It has the original mission and then some.

I too fondly remember the Amiga game LASER SQUAD, one of my favourite all-time Sci-Fi turn-based strategy games, and can still hear the superb soundtrack in my head!

I had been introduced to the games of JULIAN GOLLOP by my cousin when we played REBELSTAR RAIDERS on his ZX Spectrum.

Having purchased TEMPLAR BATTLEFORCE only a few days ago, I am enjoying the game and wallowing in the nostalgia which it is bringing back!

@keedor - glad you are enjoying the game! We hope you'll leave a review when you get farther along to help draw other gamers to the classic experience!

I lost my job because of laser squad, never got out of my jammies for two weeks. It was only after my Amiga kicked the bucket from the stress I went out and got another job.

I love Templar Battleforce. A game to get lost in.
