Skull & Bones - OLD DO not use

Skull & Bones - OLD DO not use

I asked ubisoft why skull and bones is not coming to steam.....
hi all, two weeks ago i sent the following email to ubisoft:

"hello, despite it previously being listed there, i understand that "skull and bones" will not be coming to steam and that if i want to play the game on PC, that i am restricted either to using your own launcher or that of epic games

my question is this: can you please tell me exactly why it is that ubisoft will not be releasing this game via steam and if they are intending to, when? also, if ubisoft does intend to release on steam at a later date, when and why is that? is it in any part due to the favourable profit margins that ubisoft get for using epic games? did epic games pay a sum of money to ubisoft for sub-platform exclusivity?

i understand that ubisoft previously decided to basically leave steam in favour of its own storefront due to heightened pre-orders on the division 2, but i thought that ubisoft was coming back to steam so what happened with that? that was announced last november if i am not mistaken and yet it took farcry 6 almost 2 years to appear on steam after its initial PC release, are we to expect the same with skull and bones?

i ask these questions because i, like the majority of PC users, prefer steam to other third party launchers. i do not care who owns it and have no interest in the messy behind-the-scenes politics that occurs rampantly in the industry although it is extremely annoying that some major players in the industry wish to create sub-platform exclusivity for short term financial gain over long term customer satisfaction and i beleive i represent a large portion of PC gamers with this statement. take borderlands 3 for example, gearbox went for exclusivity with epic because epic paid them a large sum of cash to do exactly that and up until this point i always enjoyed the borderlands series for what it offered in terms of gameplay but i basically saw this as an act of betrayal by gearbox and swore never to buy the game, regardless of my opinion of it. the reason being, that steam is far more conveniant, it really is that simple (and it does have superior features as i am sure you are aware). i have a library of almost 2000 games on an almost 20 year old account on steam and its hassle for me to require third party launchers just for a few games, especially given that i do not generally agree with the principal behind the reason for multiple launchers in the first place.

that being said, i have also had uplay, origin and epic games accounts although i have never puchased a game directly through any of these. uplay i simply have games already on steam that allow me to register the same games i already own through uplay, so i did. the same with ea's origin and as far as epic games goes, i just claim the free games every now and then and have had a few games with graphics cards purchases that active via epic games (also with ubisofts own launcher) but i have never actually bothered to download the launcher of epic games. similarly with origin, there are no games i actually play through it and even with your own launcher all i have really ever done is play the division 2 a few times (which i received free with a GPU) and also claimed the 12 games that you offered for free a few years back as part of (what i believe to be) a christmas promotion

the reason i tell you the above, is because i believe i represent a large portion of PC gamers, as i said and i think that honest feedback can be valuable and as such, i hope you will provide answers to each of my questions

thanks"

i have now received a response. reply to this thread if you want to see how they responded to me......

EGS and Ubi storefronts control the reviews.

Ubisoft doesn't really have a great track record for releases. They don't like Metacritic user scores or places that warn to wait on a product.

They are live service/subscription model bound and are trying to find their cash cow like Fortnite (still can't fathom its popularity but at least it seems to try to do things customers like).

They do not understand that being ground breaking and creative is their best shot so copy/paste other games models on your IPs. Creativity does not come from checkboxes but they are one of the early adopters of that dead mindset. Wouldn't be surprised if they brought in Sweet Baby.

I want to know
Probably the same reasons why Anno1800 was initially pulled from Steam.

Like Ubi and Epic they refuse to put in community or anything chat based for one reason feedback. They want you're money and say they are fighting for gamer rights except they control who speaks for them.

As much as I enjoy their game their platforms are toxic and greedy and they are anti-gamers who steal and bottle neck games from launching to the open market.

Please do not buy games from Epic as they are truly toxic.

Once they added more dlc content, they probably will bring it to Steam in 1 or 2 years - Like they did with Anno1800.

Currently, I would only recommend the game to AC: Black Flag sailing fans.

So UbiSoft are boycotting Steam again? How long before they start sobbing PC gamers are pirates and crawl back to Steam?

After reading all of these posts I deleted epic games from my PC I never used it because there was no reason for me to use it when I had steam I wanted to thank you for the information I understand the motivation behind epic games and y they get exclusive content and I will not use epic games we don't need it
I unfortunately have two epic games accounts. They both have expensive games that I like on them so I have to bounce around 2 accounts with different emails and passwords it's so annoying! Wish I could gift the games or merge my account.
