No it doesn't. You cannot find the words 'single player' or 'campaign' anywhere on the store page right now. Even the side bar only indicates Online Multiplayer at the moment.
If you are trying to point out the 'solo or coop' portion, that can very easily mean you don't need to group up in the vast multiplayer world
Any conversation on this beyond the store page and interviews is just wild speculation. We'll have to wait for more official details to know for sure.
1. Solo does not necessarily mean single player.
2. "5 vs 5 matches" and "systemic shared world" both suggest the existence of instances.
My bet is we will not have a single player campaign with a story. We will most likely get a sandbox that we will be able to explore alone and join other players for various activities. Something like The Division. So...not exactly immersive. Also, following The Division's model, the best assets for our ships will probably only be available through multiplayer activities.
I also wanted a pirate game with a good story after Black Flag, but it doesn't look like this will be it.
The problem is that you can play alone in an mmo too without getting in a group. So i'm not so sure about what the store page says.
1. No, there will not be offline anything. They have dedicated giant friggin' servers that keep track of all the applicable data, as much to avoid the For Honor debacles, as the fact there's a leaderboard where everyone has a score, based on everything they do, no matter what it is. This same leaderboard is how you can be "targetted" by other players by using it to place bounties on those you choose to do so, at least to the best of my understanding of how bounties work.
2. Bounties are collected on by those who go after you in and only in designated PvP areas. Said PvP areas, as they described the map, tend to be outlying regions that you won't be forced to pass through to get somewhere else. If you are in PvP waters, you are simply looking for PvP. The only reason it isn't all in one single blob as "edge of the entire ocean" is that you get different PvP activities depending on which one you go into.
3. Each ship type has a different captain, and every captain has their own personal story quests you'll have the option to work through. Likewise they have their own individual casts of characters for each of their individual crews, so not only is there a single player campiagn, there are *multiple*.
Anything beyond those three points is currently completely nebulous to the best of my knowledge. And as far as the ranting guy saying this factually resembles any game made ever, the only game this currently resembles are the earlier titles of the "uncharted waters" franchise, and even then this game is showing no sign of there being captains duels, just automated boarding actions.
Hope this has helped at least some of you.
