That said, the game was changed a bit (detailed list of differences is available here[forum.ice-pick.com], use Google Translate). This changed version is what now known as "The Void". It was released in english and german and re-issued in russian (yes, there are 2 russian releases) with "Голос Цвета/Voice of Colour" subtitle in 2009. There's no "best way", since games don't replace each other in all aspects. What you can do is to try out "The Void" (and maybe even finish it
And now a minute of shameless self-promotion :). About a year ago Ice-Pick Lodge retrieved back rights to the game and added missing languages on Steam. Every language is based on "The Void", even russian. BUT... there's also a polish one. You can download it and play "Tension" even in english with a help of my small guide. Grab first three archives and just extract it to game folder (the first one is russian VO and texts from 2008 release, second archive is direct english translation from dev-builds (published by Sam "hydra9" Jeffreys back in 2010) and third one is english-voiced intro and outros from "The Void" since there's no subtitles)
