Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online

XIGNCODE ANTI-CHEAT looks at all files you've accessed in the last 48 hours and sends the names to their servers?
So after experiencing huge FPS drops in-game, and seeing that it coincided with when the ANTI-CHEAT "BlackCipher" hogged my CPU I've come to learn that this is because the game's anticheat is effectively scanning my hard-disk drive "logging all files and paths that you modified in the last ~48 hours and all executables with prefetch files into their logs.", and additionally existing as a keylogger which monitors the text I type while the game is running.

This is pretty f***ing disgusting Nexon.

To be honest, they had this in their games for a couple of years by now and many people have complained about it already, since they didn't change anything in these past years, i doubt they will now.

Well the thing is, you accepted the terms and conditions when you made the account for the game so you can only blame yourself.

So you're willing to tell me that they have clauses in the TOS implicitly and or explicitly exempting them from being liable for any damages from this spyware-keylogger combo? Such as possibility of having my personal information, passwords, and/or bank information stolen and or sold to third-parties by Nexon, or just one employee who has access to this information? Even though that would be totally illegal, and any clauses which break the law are automatically rendered invalid?

That only makes them legally in the clear. It doesn't clear them from public outcry. Agreed to it or not, it doesn't mean one can't find terms bad.

For instance every online game has a clause in the TOS that says in much less clear terms "And ontop of all those listed reasons, we can also delete anyone's data just for the hell of it with no other reason" to completely clear them of any lost user data, or banning one's account without having to provide any actual proof of wrongdoing. its in every games TOS, does not mean if a company starting playing account deletion roulette it would make them undeserving of a public backlash.

there anti cheat only scans your ram it even says so in the EULA

i think maybe in the past when the anti cheat first was in dirty bomb it could of been more intrusive but when i looked it up after people claimed it scanned entire hard drive the info i found was it just checked out your RAM

from the EULA:

"WHEN RUNNING, THE SOFTWWARE MAY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER'S RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY (RAM) FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING CONCURRENTLY WITH THE GAME. AN "UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM" AS USED HEREIN SHALL BE DEFINED AS ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE PROHIBITED BY SECTION 4.3ABOVE. IN THE EVENT THAT THE SOFTWARE DETECTS AN UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM, (a) THE SOFTWARE MAY COMMUNICATE INFORMATION BACK TO NEXON, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION YOUR ACCOUNT NAME, DETAILS ABOUT THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM DETECTED, AND THE TIME AND DATE; AND/OR (b) NEXON MAY EXERCISE ANY OR ALL OF ITS RIGHTS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT, WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE USER. Additionally, certain Games may include a tool that will allow your computer system to forward information to Nexon in the event that the Game crashes, including system and driver data, and consent to Nexon being able to receive this data."

Pretty much, if you dont want them doing this, dont accept the terms and dont play.

Even so, you agreed to it and an outcry would make only YOU look like the fool.
If it's in the TOS and you agreed to it without reading it, it's always your own fault.

There was an interesting article about these things and one game which I dont remember had a part in its TOS where they sold the information in your comp forward to dating sites.
Pictures, videos, bank data etc etc.
And since it was in the TOS and you agreed to it, the legal actions taken against this game ended up failing and the customer had to pay a sum to the devs.

And of course we're going to have to wait 30+ years to put into law that these companies can't do this anymore, since everyone is still stuck in the stone age arguing about gay marriage.

Just for one day, ONE DAY, I wish the Internet ruled the world.

Well not exactly, facebook is known to sell all your information forward to commercial marketeers and anything you post or share is stuck in their system forever even if you delete your account.
Thta means all your information you ever said or posted is theirs to use as they want.

I read it and all I see is some kiddie who can't get the game running without screwing up.

''I CANT LAUNCH THE GAME CAUSE IT BLOCKS RAPTR AND OVERWOLF!''

I got both of those installed and running and never had a launcher issue.
