Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online

So guys, quick warning about this game regarding cheat engine.
If you have cheat engine installed on your pc, apparently this will result in a ban.
No idea if it is a permanent ban or a temp ban, but you will be "restricted from playing".

Safest bet: uninstal cheat engine.

*What happened?*

I had CE open in the back ground when I opened First Assault

*Why did you have it open?*

I am making a game on RPG Maker VX and, ironically, I am trying to make it memory edit proof, or at least make it difficult.

*Sure, sure. Hackers are always liars.*

>No VAC bans on account. I've been on steam since 2006 and have bought a lot of games.
I'm not dumb enough to go and throw them all down the drain.

What happens from here? Well hopefully I'll get a response to my support ticket, other than that, apparently the support chat will have a bans appeal starting next tuesday.

Man, I'm a long time supporter of this game since I got it. I bought the full early access pack some time last year, had a blast and I even *tried* to participate in the live events on twitch.
tl:dr; - Don't try to play on US servers if you live in UK and have rubbish internet.

I stopped playing for a while because I suffer the same illness as Disrespect.
Madly over-competitive.

So guys - don't do a CE, not even once.

For those of you wondering, these are the guidelines for a ban,

30 Day
Permanent

Punishable Offences

GM Impersonation
Offensive names
Hack related chat (providing or requesting hack information)
Abusing Bugs / Glitches

What would you class as an extreme case?
For me....that would be rampant hacking in matches, ruining games entirely, getting 50 kdr

How about you guys?

or just remember to trun it off before playing any online game... -unlinstall option you purposed is kinda silly... If its not in use it wont be detected... besides I know most people use it for single player games anyway since it makes it faster to do things without having to input commands in a dev console..

How classy. Of course uneducated people are not aware CE can be used for so, so much more than just "cheating".

It's fantastic for debugging purposes and has one of the best hex-editors built in. And in fact, certain older games, such as MGS2 on PC, require the use of CE to patch the game properly to be able to run it on W7 onwards.

As for OP; I do actually have CE installed, been for a long long time already, no problems whatsoever so far. It's a matter of how and when you use it.

Given how anti-cheat systems work and how they are configured, the only time you gonna run into problems is when running CE simulatenously with AC(s).

Yeah I've got CE, artmoney, and another I've lost on my pc cause I can't remember it's name. Just make a habit of making sure all unneeded programs are closed before playing online games and you won't have to worry about it.

I think you kind of missed the sarcasm.

That is a possibility.

Dont run multiple programs at the same time while playing others, especially if you know its a tool to edit games and files.

You knew what would happen, you knew it was used for cheating.
They ain't going to remove your ban most likely because you even now aknowledged what you did and why you got it.

there's a batch file running around called taskkill, it'll end everything except absolutely necessary apps.

Run that, THEN steam, THEN your game.

Sadly, sarcasm carries poorly over the internet...

Oh ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ already, I just got ready to start playing this game and now it seems I'll get banned before I can even start to play.

I have CE always running in the background. I even thought about it as I was starting Ghost in the Shell but instead of closing it I only googled https://www.google.com/search?q=ghost+in+the+shell+cheat+engine and voila, found this thread warning us not to have CE. Oops. I terminated the game quickly but it might have been too late.

It's NEXON... I should have known. Their strict anticheat guards even flag innocent admin stuff like process explorer/monitor. Which is also always running. I'm doubly screwed. :(

Edit: I seem to recall Maple Story (also a NEXON anticheat game) worked differently. That version simply refused to launch the game if it detected that process monitor's kernel mode drivers have been loaded in the system. Why couldn't have the same been done for CE? I don't mind exiting it if I'm asked. What I DO mind is getting banned over something so trivial. Though I remember it was pretty annoying, having to reboot my system over something so stupid. The only way to unload kernel mode drivers was to not load them in the first place. I soon stopped playing that game, I was simply not willing to sacrifice over 1 month long system uptime streaks just to reset my "possible cheater" flag. Not every kernel mode driver is for cheating, NEXON!

Edit 2: I expect I'll be banned from these forum for "knowing about cheats at all" so I'm saving a copy of my post here: http://forum.3ice.hu/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=961 Just look a few posts above, poor guy defending CE with legitimate examples: Mark F. Smith (Banned)

NEXON anticheat is stupid - forbidding CE I can understand, but process monitor too!? And why ban without warning first? (Warning temp bans don't count - I want a warning popup not a one day ban.)

Or you know. Get gud and don't be a scrubby cheater and use CE to begin with. That's always a option.
PuffyHuff Sep 5, 2017 @ 6:58pm
PLS let this thread from 2016 die. No necro'ing convos >_<
