I apologise that everything has gone quiet and there haven't been any updates for a long time.
We realised that to move forward with the features we wanted to share, we needed to update the graphics engine that the Shoot 'Em Up Kit uses. We've been using a graphics engine for a long time now but it's showing its age and causing some bugs that are hard to resolve. So we're updating the Shoot 'Em Up to to use the Unreal Engine's graphics and audio and creating some new features that the new engine allows.
We're making good progress with this and have the Map Editor, Entity Editor and Particle Editor working well.
We really appreciate everyone who has supported us by purchasing the Shoot 'Em Up Kit through Early Access and won't just abandon the project. We'll be seeing this through to make it a great, accessible tool for making games.
Thanks again.
The update to use the Unreal Engine for graphics and audio is still a few months away.
Thanks for asking about the use of the Unreal Engine. The Shoot 'Em Up Kit will still be its own application and will work like it does currently without anyone being aware of the graphics or audio engines being used. You can still make and distribute your games, but there were be visual improvements and support for more platforms.
Thanks again
The major update with the engine change will be Q4 this year. I'm sorry we can't be more specific than that, but we'll be sharing videos, screenshots and announcements as we approach its release.
Is 1.0 version coming out soon then or is that in a "few weeks" like stated years ago with every other update?
We're maintaining the Early Access version of the Kit, but our focus is on the new version which contains a full engine upgrade and a restructure that combines the things we've learned while in Early Access and the feedback from the community. This will be a full release, and we'll even include it in the Steam sales. :D
The new version is in good shape and we'll be sharing images and videos over the next month or so as we start preparing for release.
We will be doing a small update later this week to rebuild all the demo games for the new version, and including a small usability fix for the splines.
Thanks
Hi there, when is it going to be out of BETA?
Thanks for the reply. when is the update coming?
