Hi Fluffy, thanks for checking up on the Shoot 'Em Up Kit.

I apologise that everything has gone quiet and there haven't been any updates for a long time.

We realised that to move forward with the features we wanted to share, we needed to update the graphics engine that the Shoot 'Em Up Kit uses. We've been using a graphics engine for a long time now but it's showing its age and causing some bugs that are hard to resolve. So we're updating the Shoot 'Em Up to to use the Unreal Engine's graphics and audio and creating some new features that the new engine allows.

We're making good progress with this and have the Map Editor, Entity Editor and Particle Editor working well.

We really appreciate everyone who has supported us by purchasing the Shoot 'Em Up Kit through Early Access and won't just abandon the project. We'll be seeing this through to make it a great, accessible tool for making games.

Thanks again.

Any updates on this sorry???

Hi Bollehopp, if I'm understanding you correctly then I can confirm we are still creating updates for the Shoot 'Em Up Kit. We have an update coming in the next few weeks that has a ship selection feature as well as some bug fixes and optimisations.
The update to use the Unreal Engine for graphics and audio is still a few months away.

I think you have left the community hanging far too long without any real answers or road map for this tbh .. So this shootemupkit will basically just be Unreal then without the possibilty to make a game in then?

Hi Bollehopp, thanks for your feedback. We're aware of how quiet we have been and apologise for this. We've had to make some significant changes to the Kit but this is giving us a clearer path to making the Kit what we all want it to be.
Thanks for asking about the use of the Unreal Engine. The Shoot 'Em Up Kit will still be its own application and will work like it does currently without anyone being aware of the graphics or audio engines being used. You can still make and distribute your games, but there were be visual improvements and support for more platforms.
Thanks again

Can we please have a date ?
Tall Studios  [developer] Aug 20, 2022 @ 5:00am
Hi Bollehopp, we have some updates to the Shoot 'Em Up Kit which we expect to be released in the next couple of weeks. We'll continue to be releasing updates to the existing version over the coming months too.
The major update with the engine change will be Q4 this year. I'm sorry we can't be more specific than that, but we'll be sharing videos, screenshots and announcements as we approach its release.

So will the update still come? Engine upgrade would be great!
Tall Studios  [developer] Feb 19, 2023 @ 12:25pm
Hi Let's Go Champ™, thanks for checking on the update. The update was delayed because there was a new feature blocking it's release, but we've worked around this issue and have put a build in for internal testing. We'll release it on the beta branch in the next few days.

I used to have this on my wishlist a long time ago and kept wondering why it never ever goes on sale.. But then I realized too that hey why isnt it getting updates when its stuck in early access so I took it off my wishlist.
Is 1.0 version coming out soon then or is that in a "few weeks" like stated years ago with every other update?

Hi Bollehopp, the Shoot 'Em Up Kit has definitely been on a journey since it came onto Early Access a few years ago. We plan to write a blog post about it to share with the community.
We're maintaining the Early Access version of the Kit, but our focus is on the new version which contains a full engine upgrade and a restructure that combines the things we've learned while in Early Access and the feedback from the community. This will be a full release, and we'll even include it in the Steam sales. :D
The new version is in good shape and we'll be sharing images and videos over the next month or so as we start preparing for release.

Hi Let's Go Champ™, I just wanted to let you know that the latest update to the Shoot 'Em Up Kit is in the Beta branch, which you can access by right-clicking on the Shoot 'Em Up Kit in your Steam library, selecting Properties, and then Betas.
We will be doing a small update later this week to rebuild all the demo games for the new version, and including a small usability fix for the splines.
Thanks

Hi there, when is it going to be out of BETA?
Tall Studios  [developer] Apr 3, 2023 @ 7:08am
Hi Dr.Death, we'll move these updates out of Beta. They all seem stable and we've not had any feedback suggesting it's causing problems. Thanks for raising this.
