Will look into tweaking Bugs, a few reports they're overpowered.
Not trying to be rude but that makes no sense at all since the alarms go off anyway so what exactly does hacking it achieve? Why not just make the default action be to steal it if that's what you are supposed to do? I figured the idea was to hack it so it was ineffective rather than stealing it so they just make another?!
I know you hate tutorials and I'm with you on that but since every other hackable item in the entire game just has to be hacked and then can't be interacted with, I think this is pretty terrible choice to change the rules for the last item.
I hacked it and there was no prompt at all to do anything. I think you're going to have a lot of pretty annoyed people based on how that last level works, especially with the 400k fee each time (which I really really dislike).
There is a lot about the game to like so I hope you take this as I intend it (feedback on how to take it from good but flawed to downright awesome rather than just criticism for the sake of it).
OT: The first time I hacked the basilisk I also did it without hacking all security stations. So when the alarms went off, I managed to get away with the basilisk, but nothing happened. Then I figured I need to hack all security stations, but maybe a small hint somewhere could be handy for other players.
Exactly what happened to me.
Please improve the way the Basilisk steal/hack is communicated to players.
There was no obvious* use of the LOCK symbol (like on locked computers), so there was no reason to think that:
a. ALL security terminals had to be disabled.
b. the alarm going off was related to not disabling all security terminals rather than due to stealing the precious basilisk.
And because the nearby cameras don't go offline when disabling a security terminal (like in other levels), it seemed that perhaps the terminals were only there to make the overall security harder to defeat, yet challenging the player to "Hey, if you can steal the basilisk without disabling all terminals/cameras, then more power to ya!"
* On replay, I notice the lock is shown on the basilisk screen, but really faded. Perhaps have the lock and the number of terminals still locked (eg: 2/6).
I'm afraid this isn't what happens. All cameras go down when secStations are hacked on all levels.
I'll look into how this is communicated, but honestly for everyone worried it's not clear enough, I've received more emails from people saying how they love the fact it requires paying attention. Feedback taken on board, though, I'll look into tweaking it.
Wait, are you saying that some cameras on The Swindle level are supposed to go down as you hack their secStation? That didn't happen to me. Hacking secStations did nothing (other than reduce the secStation count).
Also, IMHO it wasn't entirely clear whether the final police gunners were trying to kill me or support me (like a hacked drone would). Their colour seemed a bit muted compared to usual (perhaps my imagination though). So initially I thought "Oh cool, this is what 'hacking' the Basilisk does...super cops!" Turns out I was very wrong :p
Btw, I appreciate you listening to our feedback, regardless what ends up being changed or not :)
The amount of shielded windows that need breaking through (unless im missing something obvious how to break the boarded windows up?) + walls which are 2-3-5+ brick thick needing to blow through without ending up killing the security station and ruining the whole job + getting TO the basilisk + getting around the actual final level (i find it tends to be in 4 clusters, left, mid, right, bottom, possibly 5 with another mid sector), it can get a bit too awkward/impossible.
